You can youtube plenty of demar dunks where he's at a standstill from the 3pt line and ends up dunking on big or multiple ppl in the lanes. Is he westbrook athletic, no. Is he Lavine athletic no, but he's definitely more athletic than PP noteven sure how that can be stated. lane agility also shouldn't be the end all be all in terms of indicator of athleticism

You obviously didn’t see Pierce when he was young, he was very athletic.

Okay so a young PP was athletic, I knew that. To say he's as athletic as DeMar tho is still a reach. DeMar right now is way more athletic than PP at the same age and I still believe DeMar was more athletic than a young PP. I'm sure PP would tell everyone that DeMar was more athletic than him. PP maybe or definitely is the better player but DeMar is athletic and so is Barnes.

Sure if you guys are comparing them wade/tmac/Gianni's, some of the most gifted/freakish athletic players of all time, then sure they're not gonna look athletic. Comparing them to PP tho, that's a reach no matter how much highlites get posted. That's all I'm saying

Barnes is very athletic. So there’s no debate from me on that point. As for DeMar and Pierce, I think it’s closer than you would think but I’m also of the opinion that DeMar takes better care of himself than Pierce ever did. In any event, they both have/had games that are predicated on being crafty.

You've got to be really bad at figuring this game out to call Derozan slow. Even coming out of college he was quick and it was part of every draft note. And no Barnes isn't as quick, but then again he's 6-8 and has a huge reach so he doesn't have to be.

As for athletic and DD, the words were "jaw dropping specimen" I beleive.

This was my favourite play of the night. Not just the no look pass, but how he got his initial pass deflected from the left block and still beat everyone to the ball at the elbow.

Also loved the bad pass from Banton he caught one handed and fed to Yuta for the dunk.

If he caught it, it wasn't a bad pass.

Lol nah it wasn't a good pass but Scottie's hands are just insanely big. A lot of other players wouldn't be able to hold on to that ball.

And knowing this, Raptor players can be more aggressive with their passes as they know they will be caught. Why not take advantage of that catching ability?

Fred VanVleet / Goran Dragic
Gary Trent Jr. / Svi Mikhaluik
OG Anunoby / Yuta Watanabe
Pascal Siakam / Scottie Barnes
Khem Birch / Precious Achiwa

All the short players didn't look right on the court lol.

Maxey, FVV and Flynn were giving me FVV vs Sixers in title run year flashbacks.

The question is Dragic. It makes no sense to keep him past the trade deadline, so if Raptors play better with the tall rookies than with Flynn, is there a place for Flynn? If Nurse wants the ball in Scotties hands, is Flynn, off ball, any better than Champaingnie? Yuta, Svi, and Precious seem to be reasonable ball handlers.

It's a make or break year for Flynn imo. If he doesn't show the chops, theres no point in Flynn being the PG of the second unit when Barnes is right there.

it could make sense to keep him past the deadline -
if we are in the playoff hunt, and he is being credited for some of that success - leading the bench unit/spending time with fvv in backcourt/impacting the culture of the locker room in a positive way - i honestly think masai holds on to him if it looks like Goran is getting the chris paul resurgence love from the nba - masai doesnt mind helping players get paid if it also helps the locker room - we basically have no real "vets" on the roster other than Dragic.

i just wouldnt be surprised if we held on

Flynn's value comes as a high volume three point shooter, especially off the dribble threes, but if he can become a disgusting off-ball receiving passes from scottie it would help - the thing about flynn's college shooting splits is that he didnt shoot a lot of corner three pointers and did well from above the break and elbow threes - which are the harder shots to take

So when Scottie is on the floor, Flynn really has to buy into sharing the ball handling duties.

I know this shouldn't be important, but Suggs scored 2 points last night and was a -16 in the Magic's blowout loss to the Pelicans. And played over 22 minutes, the highest on the team.

So just putting that out there...
'Cos it's easier to try
Than to prove it can't be done

Yep, still very early but Suggs has not looked good at all. Scottie was supposed to be the guy who was furthest away and if the first game was any indication then he's actually the most ready

I think Mobley is going to be an amazing player. I think his progression will be very similar to Bosh but with a higher ceiling.

Two bad games so far. Weak handles and inconsistent shot. He's lucky that he's going to get all the minutes he can handle because that alone will make his numbers look decent.

Barnes and Toronto is a perfect fit. You look at some of these guys in the top 5 and I legitimately feel bad for them. They got drafted by teams with no history of player development and have been awful franchises for the better part of a decade if not more. Then you got Houston who traded Harden for essentially nothing and then have constructed a terrible looking roster featuring KPJ, Green and Wood.

No wonder why prospects want to play here.
