No reason for philly to take that headache. Its always something with Kyrie.

C'mon Elton, whadya think Simmons is for Philly? Kyrie's issue goes away if he's not playing for a NY or CA team.

No, he's still an idiot. He's still the guy that quit on Boston for no reason. When the next situation comes up, he'll make the wrong decision again.

But if I’m the Nets, I’m all over that deal right now and would overpay to get Simmons and shed Kyrie. He’d be a great fit there.

Of course, but I doubt philly is the one saying no.

While it's true Kyrie is in a low-risk group (although individual's reaction to the virus can vary), the life-saving part has more to do with unvaccinated individuals being a vector for the spread of the virus to people who are less healthy/fortunate. So life-saving is definitely not hyperbole (and has nothing to do with politics). The longer the virus is allowed to pass from person to person, the more chance it has to mutate, the less effective the vaccine will become (we're seeing both of these things now with the delta variant), and the more people will die needlessly. If Kyrie really cares about the livelyhood of individuals, he will use his platform to encourage them to make choices that will help to ensure the health and safety of themselves and those around them. There is no livelyhood without life.

Edit: To pp's point, there are legitimate medical reasons why people cannot get the vaccine (my mother, who is a nurse, falls into this category), so it is always good to check with your doctor if you are unsure/have concerns. But for the vast majority of the population, the vaccine is safe and effective. Thus ends the public service announcement.

Kyrie's problems are going nowhere. He's stuck in adolescence. Got Shams to print a nonsensical press release under his byline. Massive embarrassment for them both and for the Athletic. There is no team, no situation, that he will not **** up.

I dislike Kyrie just as much as anyone, but Simmons is in the same kind of situation, and they both can play when they have their heads on straight. Kyrie did help Lebron win an NBA Championship.

Not to get too much into it, but the most laughable part of the statement is the 'voice for the voiceless' comment. Those people are literally the loudest voice right now making a big scene. And they have numerous powerful powerful people being that voice, including possibly the biggest mouth in the world in the former and possible next president of the USA. If anything, these people have too big of a voice considering how small of a faction of society they are.

Two reports have been out there: KD runs the team and won't let Irving be traded, and second, Irving would retire if traded.

Sean Marks said today that they talked to KD (and Harden) before they made this decision. He was vague enough in what he said that we don't know if KD explicitly signed off on it or ambivalently went along with it. But KD going along with it and not making an issue out of it would seem to suggest that, at the very least, the days of him being Kyrie's meat-shield are probably over. If the Sixers offered Simmons for Kyrie straight up, no picks, no swaps, I think Brooklyn takes the deal in a second. Philly doesn't offer the deal because as you noted, the report is that Kyrie will retire if he's traded.

Kyrie retiring would be absolutely wonderful. Someone needs to do humanity a solid.

I can't imagine anyone would even consider throwing away that kind of money.

They’re not even guarding Westbrook at the three point and doubling AD whenever he catches it in the paint.

Over/under 15 games into the season before the national discourse is Lebron doesn't have enough help. I don't see it at all with the Lakers roster and Lebron isn't getting any better. I'll take the under

Yes, i get these guys are filthy rich and easily could retire, but you have to remember they live filthy rich lifestyles. Despite being in the league 10 years and having massive shoe deals, I think Forbes had his net worth at $45m last year or so. (No idea if it is accurate). These guys burn a lot of cash. Anyone that thinks he is going to walk away from $70m+ is as crazy as Kyrie.

There's a conspiracy plot developing out there somewhere with Kyrie and Simmons both born in Melbourne Australia

Jordan Poole is freaking good man. Warriors got a legit 4th guy and slides Wiggins down to the 5th option where he probably should be

If Klay/Draymond are close to form by playoff time Warriors are a very real finals threat
