The idea that the anti-vax, anti-mask, anti-mandate crowd is voiceless is preposterous. They never shut up about it. They show up and scream at school board officials. They threaten medical staff. Their *protests* involve standing outside of schools and yelling at the kids. They're all over social media. Like 30% of elected officials in this country fall into the who cares about science and medicine crowd.Clyde Frazier wrote:Smart move by the nets. They can now minimize the distraction as much as possible and focus on a game to game plan without him. Of course, I can't imagine how Kyrie's teammates feel with him getting in the way of them possibly winning a title. This blurb makes his stance even more absurd:
If you lost a policy debate, held your protest, and didn't change minds, you're not *voiceless,* you just took an L. Grow up.

If he wasn't anti-Vaxx, he would have already taken the vaccine long ago. Dude is trying to hide behind the whole mandate issue as an excuse not to take the vaccine.. BS.
Not to mention he was also liking posts about vaccines being a government conspiracy inspired by satan or some chit and all the crazy stuff he's done in the past. Kyrie's PR team must think an average person is as dumb as he is.
Yep. I was watching a recent video where that Trump lackey Sen. Lindsay Graham was doing a speech in front his local constituents and encouraged them to get vaccine and got booed the hell out. He asked what's their objection to vaccine to which they responded they're not against vaccines but government mandates. Like seriously, the mandates been around a month. What's your excuse for not getting the vaccine before the mandates came around? These people will keep shifting the goal post to deny taking the "mark of the beast".. idiots.
Lindsey Graham learning first hand that he can’t control the Frankenstein monster that he helped create. 100% right on the mandates being a bs excuse. If these people weren’t antivaxxers they wouldn’t boo the idea of getting vaccinated.

They still are, and of they manage to trade him for an all-star they are winning it barring injury.
They are not at all the favorites over the literal defending champions or even the Heat and 76ers out of the East, without Kyrie.
What team is trading for a guy that won't get a vaccine, especially with threats to retire if traded?
They absolutely are. Harden and Durant are too top five players and they have a bunch of solid role players. If they stay healthy there are no question the favorites.

I would still take him on my team as the "tax" to get KD, which gives you a chance to win the championship every year with or without kyrie on the court.

This isn't true whatsoever. The vaccine is pushed moreso than anything I've ever seen. It's on billboards, radio ads, commercials, etc. Look at your Twitter or YouTube and there is a forced covid section. It's on the news 24/7. Constant pressure to take this "safe and effective" vaccine and folks wonder why people are suspicious. And not too mention that the companies creating the vaccines are shady af.
The people who don't want it just want to be left alone.

People who are against the mandates but not the vaccine can still get vaccinated and continue their protest against the mandates. If they truly believe that refusing the vaccine is an effective way to protest the mandates they could always just get a single dose of the vaccine. Kyrie's protest would still be just as effective if he only got one dose but refused the second.
Not receiving any vaccine doses would suggest an opposition to the vaccines themselves and not just the vaccine mandates.

It only shows that Irving simply doesn't know anything about the world if he thinks his GOV is oppressive.
What you're saying isn't necessarily wrong, but it's a great way to rationalize pretty much anything. If you take North Korea, Venezuela or Afghanistan as yardsticks, then everything is going excellently in the west. And the whole feminist and LGBTQ movements can't even be justified, if we compare how those groups are treated in many Muslim countries. Workers' unions shouldn't even exist, cause people working at the Nike and Primark factories in India have it way worse.
Of course the comparison was with the developed world like Europe (EU mostly + a bunch of other countries), UK, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada where the State is more present in everyday life than in the US (and still surely not "oppressive").
In Italy for example 80% of people is fully vaccinated, a "greenpass" in order to work will become mandatory in the next few days (this prompted even more outrage than the vaccine). We also have many "Kyrie Irvings" who don't want to get vaccinated. We all know that Irving's obsession with challenging "the perceived control of society" (quote) is not something a reasonable person would entertain in a 1st world country.
I see a clear symptom of a martyr/hero syndrome flavoured with ignorance and narcissism .

Re: Kyrie Irving Megathread: [Shams] Kyrie Will Not Play or Practice Until Fully Vaccinated
I KNEW he had 0 position whatesoever.
Being anti vax is being anti vax and yet he just wants to say he's not by saying it's about "control". Yeah dude we want to control the pandemic and stop having people die for selfish pieces of *** like Irving who are just **** around because they can.
Just like any other of the modern vaxs that are mandated to be apart of society and crush vital plagues that have destroyed humanity in the past.
Irving is nothing at all but an attention seeking piece of trash. If it wasn't this it'll be the next thing, this is just his current flat earth theory.
I can't wait till he stops playing and stops being in the most privileged position in the world outside of guys like Elon Musk who rather shoot their load into space then help anyone else with money they don't even care about spending.

If people on both sides can set aside their politics for a sec, this is shaping out fairly similar to his hiatus last year. The Nets were able to shake off his absence without much damage last time, he produced on the court, and we did not hear much about any locker room issues with teammates. Hopefully, not too much damage was done this time either and everyone can move on.

Sooo...he's not anti-vaccine but he's refusing to get the vaccine because he doesn't think getting it is important enough to be a requirement.
Yeah, okay.
Sounds legit.

If Kyrie were to retire over this what would happen to the Nets cap and what happens if in a year he wants to come back?

I know that the best way to speak for the voiceless is to not tell anyone but your friends and hope that they share that conversation with the media.

Setting aside the fact that we don't just leave drunk drivers alone, and that none of publicly screaming profanities at school board members, threatening nurses with violence, or yelling at kids outside of a school constitutes just leave me alone, none of what you wrote negates my point.jg77 wrote:jbk1234 wrote:The idea that the anti-vax, anti-mask, anti-mandate crowd is voiceless is preposterous. Sooner or later upper management is going to get tired of dealing with Kyrie situations.

His reasoning doesn't really matter to me. I don't agree, but it's his life/career. Do you homie.
Like others have said, that's his right. And it's the league's and teams' rights to say you have to get the vaccine since you not having it could have a direct effect on other people. No one is wrong. Just a decision each person has to make on their own. I feel bad for the league and Brooklyn fans though. I'd rather see every team at full strength.

They are straight up forcing average people to either get the vaccine or give up the ability to support themselves.
The media has convinced people that it's somehow this last 20% of people that is causing society not to get back to normal. Even when we ultimately pressure our way to 99%, it still won't be enough. And even then these same people will complain not enough people are getting boosters.

I think I just lost some brain cells reading this. This is so embarrassing lol. Just throwing out random numbers with no proof and making terrible analogiesTrying to equate seatbelt use to a contagious pandemic. Plus….seatbelt use mandates are actually a thing for everyone’s safety
So lazy, such a snowflake, so pathetic
Sorry I live in California where the vaccination rate is 73%, and meanwhile they are forcing people to get it to even go into restaurants. My bad I was off by 7%, such a huge difference.
Listen man, if you are that scared to go outside just stay inside and wait it out. It will all be okay. You can make insults, I don't blame you. You've been severely brainwashed to think your neighbor is your enemy. I'll pray for you, god bless.
