I think Josh will be a fine player. Don't think he will be a true star. Too passive for it at this stage. His playmaking and feel for the game are awesome and if he gets the opportunity to show it he will shine.

Too passive at this stage?! He's 18 and 3-4 games into his NBA career. Give him a chance!

People may not know this but Giddey has been trying to model his game on Doncic over the past few years. Giddey coming into the draft didn't mention this (because it's ridiculous to say) but years before he has admitted that he's actually trying to build his game towards Doncic and uses him for inspiration.
I'm very glad he has been doing this because their body type, athleticism and IQ are quite similar. They differ based on skills right now.

He will not reach Doncic levels but if he keeps working on his moves then he could be to Doncic as Sabonis is to Jokic.

i think i heard this on draft day, maybe? :D :D

As an Australian, I hope that he does well but he’s not in the same stratosphere as Simmons at a similar age

Time will tell

Very good pickup for OKC

But Giddey is a safer bet to get to his potential. Also as a local myself Giddey isn’t that far away from Ben age for age (passing you can say Giddey hands down is better which is their biggest skill point).

Borderline All Star Talent for Giddey imo

Okay but he’s a long way way even a stratosphere from his true potential which he’ll never get to. Giddey is the safer bet to get there.

He’s already better than Lonzo Ball.

In the international friendly of Australia vs Nigeria he looked extremely confident and experienced beyond his years.

Skill and confidence are right up there.

Now it's all down to hard work and persistence.

What does that mean though lol. Giddey will most likely never become better than current Ben Simmons.

It means he’s less likely to stall his own development.

Simmons should be top ten heading towards top 5 but has never never sniffed that mark that’s how high his potential is but that’s all it is (won’t happen).

I got laughed at when I called him a poor mans Doncic pre draft. I watched every NBL game of his so knew his style would throw people off (as did Doncic even though he was euro MVP).

His stats were as good, if not better than Lamelo Balls in the NBL and they were both the same age. They had different styles, but overall impact was fairly similar. Pass first PG’s, great rebounders at the guard, struggled on the 3 point shot and to defend. He’s the best passer in the draft by a long long way. His main issue will be his 3 point shot (which looks ok pre season) and man to man D (which is horrible).

In the long run, I believe he’s a fringe all star kind of player which means I’m Giddey

That’s exactly how I see it. Watched all of their NBL games too. Ball is a tad more special to me (def All Star Talent) but both are great great passers and super advanced for a guard per their age demos.

Higher shooting/scoring/defensive potential for Ball, Giddey is more cerebral and funnily enough will be taller/bulkier (which admittedly didn’t think it would be). Athletically Ball is more zippy and has a better handle since day dot (him and Luka have sick handles in comparison to Giddey/Cade from much younger ages, they dribble like an elite 6”2 guard). But that’s a skill trait that will get better for Giddey.

It’s funny they are tall but have a keen knack for grabbing an extra rebound or two and pushing the pace. Some 6”8” guys have poor rebounding instincts these two are the opposite.

Why couldnt they? Most teams are looking for more than 1 guy that can create / handle the ball. SGA is more of a CG than a true PG, and neither is some sort of 35-40% usage superstar. They should be fine. They both play unselfish and unlike most stars, neither seems to crave the big city nightlife type scene. I think OKC has specifically targeted players that they think would be likely to resign (Tons of euros, who historically dont bolt for the big cities, and humble'ish types like SGA, etc).

I think OKC has a tremendous future if they can luck into that elusive #1 option. I strongly believe SGA and Giddey are deep-playoff caliber #2 and #3 options once they develop. If they can find their superstar, they are on a road to becoming a elite team.
