The most annoying thing about Kyrie is how smug he comes off. He acts like such a know it all while actually not making much sense at all.

No, its not. This is not a both sides issue. The vaccine works, its been proven all across the world. Kyrie is an attention seeking moron and he should be treated as such, this had nothing to do with race.
I've seen him compared to Kaepernick which is laughable. Colin Kaepernick is a hero and patriot that sacrificed a successful NFL career where he could have cashed in the following offseason based on throwing 16 tds and only 4 INTs so that he could be the voice that used his platform to fight police brutality. Kyrie is just an egotistical moron who is torpedoing his teams season because he clearly doesn't believe in Science. I'm a Celtics fan so believe me I'm loving the undoing of Kyrie. I have to deal with people like him every day that don't believe Fauci and scientific evidence. Its awful that these unvaccinated people are the people who will prevent us from going back to normal.
Well said. The comparison to Kap and Mohammed Ali is freaking laughable. Both these guys were proven right, Kap was actually right at the time but people didn’t want to listen. I can tell you right now, if Kyrie continues on this path he will be looked at as a joke and cautionary tale.
So far its been both of you who have brought up Ali & Cap, numerous times. Its not all or nothing. There's an in between.

Yes, then he can have a conspiracy party when the lights go out due to Cruzin' Teddy!!
(Of course, Ted will be leaving town that day, just like the crap sheriffs Texas had back in the day as well)

Id recommend confronting our own pain. If we read the words xenophobia, system, sexism, misogynistic, etc and the body responds a certain kind of way, or thoughts trigger before you can even catch a breath...
Re-evaluate judgement on Kyrie and confront your own pain. Odds your, that anger is going to direct at that one man.

Yes, im glad you're able to see that system we live in thats based on xenophobia and patriarchy impacts people from all backgrounds. We're all part of this system. We all contribute to it, positively and negatively.
I think there are better ways of protesting. He certainly doesn't deserve the hatred he's getting.
We are asking vulnerable groups of people that have been systematically targeted through the medical & prison systems to vaccinate "for their own good", when its for our herd immunity (selfish gain). If you can't relate to this, your experiences with doctors, hospital officials, airports, security, government, etc could have been neutral or even positive. That isnt the case for many people of color, and its even more alarming for those members when it impacts livelihood. This is the second or third generation in America where you can earn bread as a black man, so the notion that anybody could take that away is scary.
There is a distrust in the medical system. There is a distrust in government. I know its easier to hate on one human being, but its a little more productive, and just, to consider it from different societal perspectives.
Naw....I’m not going to conflate this beyond one rich basketball players choice to not play ball....this ain’t about systemic racism. Kyrie ain’t holding it down for joe citizen...BASKETBALL- we talking about if he will play ball with the nets....not if he will get vaccinated. Kyrie don’t HAVE to ball to feed his family. Kyrie not an Amazon warehouse worker...kyrie can fly with BLUE Orgin for 25Ms and not lose sleep.
Kyrie has said he don’t need to play and has contracts to prove it...just sit out. No one gonna come to his house with police and force him to get shot OR play.
Making kyries stance bigger than a rich guy not wanting to play basketball based on principle is a mistake IMO...this more Ben Simmons than Kap
What’s even stupider is that black people have been hit disproportionately harder by covid! It’s actually worse for the black community to remain unvaccinated. The talking point about mistrust in the government is **** stupid because if the government wanted to kill off black people they’d discourage them from getting vaccinated. Funny all the antivax and vaccine hesitant people are actually hurting the black community, but it’s funny that there’s no conspiracy about that…..

Rinse and repeat. No matter how many times it's explained, they pretend it isn't. Just Asking Questions (JAQ-ing off) fallacy.
And this is why it's futile to continue this dialogue. Neither side will be convinced by the other. If the science is right (and there's no evidence that it isn't) then 2 things will happen to the anti-vaxers: (1) they get COVID & survive and get natural immunity and we're all safe; or (2) they get COVID & don't survive. Either way, it'll be natural selection at work and the situation resolves itself.

But you did say the Australian government was building quarantine camps to "combat the virus", which is completely different than constructing a quarantine hub for travelers to be held before being cleared to enter the country. Regardless, let's get back to Kyrie and how his holdout impacts the NBA. My PM is open if either of you want to discuss the Australia claim further.
I agree with discussing Kyrie. But I noticed a bit of misinformation in this post -
"Officials maintain that these camps, which are mostly for travelers but can also be used to isolate the contagious, are necessary because hotel quarantine has repeatedly let Covid leak into the community."
Straight from the article. According to the officials, it is definitely not just going to be used for travelers entering the country.
No reply needed. Onto Kyrie!
This is completely speculation on your part. What’s true is that there are quarantine facilities for travellers. They MIGHT use it for contagious people. We don’t know how they might use it and for whom. But the poster is obviously invoking a more sinister purpose by bringing it up. You know what’s a great way to not end up in quarantine? Get vaccinated!
As a Jewish person, the idea of quarantining people in a camp does not sit right with me vaccinated or not. If you cannot relate to that, I completely understand.

Everything you said can be true and still have nothing to do with Kyrie and his vax status.
Kyrie NOT playing or getting vaxed isnt so he can use his time and money to sort out the facts on if the vaccine and IF he got vaccinated it wouldn’t help people see the light and get vaccinated.
IMO kyries personal stance ain’t impacting other people. Have you ever heard someone say “Kyrie said...” followed by anything that that a person swore by? Kyrie making an “ancient alien” argument...its alluding to a what if statement but never really making a claim one way or another so that you are never proven wrong...
Keep this about ball IMO- ‘Kyrie has decided to not wear a jersey for the nets this year...we thank him for his previous service.”
The nets would be stupid to extend him - but we will see if they are that foolish
Just so I’m clear...I respect kyries choice and I hope he retires

The problem with this line of thinking is that it rarely ever affects just them. How many people are they going to take out along the way in both scenarios vs getting vaxxed and protecting yourself and others? Essentially remaining unvaccinated is a kamikaze mission IF you don’t continue to physical distance, wear masks and do the other things we were all doing before the vaccine.

Is there any reason to think the NY vaccine mandate is going to go away anytime soon? I wouldn't think there is, and Kyrie has a player option next season for ~$36 mil. After that what does he do?

And this is the type of fearmongering that I’m talking about. I think it’s disingenuous to even go there with the comparison, because those things are no where near the same but understand your personal feelings about it. This is getting off topic but one last question. can you tell me the difference between quarantine camps and quarantine hotels that were used during the early stages of the pandemic? Why would you assume a sinister motive on the part of the government with camps but not the hotels since they perform the same function?

If he wants to be a voice to the voiceless, put his money on the line, which he did, just not the right way. Get vaccinated and play and donate the salary he would've lost to a cause to support ones who are losing their jobs to mandates. That's an actual good plan, not losing the money and nothing good comes from it.
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

Prior to this, I felt Kyrie was an idiot.
But, someone should stand up for those who are essentially being asked/forced to undergo a medical procedure against their will.
In this case, Kyrie is fighting for a worthy cause and I commend him for it.
Obviously I have no idea what his intentions actually are, but at least he's a contrarian in a world of Yes men.
You can believe the Covid Vaccines are effective and healthy, and still support someone's right to decline it! The two are not mutually exclusive.
I fully support Kyrie’s decision. I also support Nets’ decision not to play him half of the games. I see no problem here. Nobody seems to force anybody on anything. In fact, Kyrie will make a cool $18 million to stay at home and enjoy his time. I wish my employer forces me to make $18 million to enjoy my time.

No. More likely scenario is other NBA cities adopt the policy. Which makes Kyrie or other unvaccinated player trades challenging.

He's an airhead who spends way too much time on reddit and youtube. And if he's going to get vaccinated why make such a big hoopla about everything? Dude is an attention whore who think he's an intellectual. But we're all pawns who have implanted microchips inside us so what do we know!?

I see some anger. I have no interest in having it directed at me. Figure out those unresolved anger issues instead of taking it out on others. You can do it yourself, with the help of a professional, or through Zen Buddhism.
