Simmons was being held out of the team’s shootaround, he told them, due to a possible exposure to a team masseuse, who’d returned an inconclusive COVID-19 test.

Several players were questioned about whether they’d seen her that morning, but only Simmons said that he had.

“He answered the question honestly, without thinking of the implications,” says one source close to Simmons.

But according to multiple sources, many within the team questioned whether Simmons had actually seen the masseuse — or was just trying to get out of playing as he battled the basketball version of the yips.

Later in the day, the staffer and Simmons’ test results came back negative, according to sources, and he was cleared to play in the game. But he wasn’t in a good place, and neither were the Sixers.

“He was thrown,” the source says.

Alright guys, can we stop talking to reporters. No need to completely bludgeon his value.

So much for being "thrown under the bus".

This is super normal for a rookie and a valid complain, but also every number 1 pick would get similar flack for their production and lack of improvement.

What cracks me up is that he literally missed his entire rookie season with an injury.

He had the luxury of being around an NBA team for 12 months without the pressure of having to play and being able to learn and gain knowledge and see things from a perspective that most don’t get.

The bottom line is that he’s just unbelievably mentally soft.

The "not being able to make mistakes" thing doesn't really jive with the most common complaint being that all people wanted him to do was take jump shots even if he missed them...

Just thinking about all the F-Ups since 2005 with this franchise...either injuries or mental issues...

1) Webber
2) Brand
3) Bynum
4) Fultz
5) Simmons

Sometimes feels like Embiid is hanging on by a thread with all his injuries.

Sixers trying to tank Ben’s value is a novel approach

I truly hope Ben got the mental break he needed over this offseason. It sucks that the series was weighing on him so much. I really do hope he finds some peace with a new team.

I take the comment as he wants to go a place with a lot less pressure. A bad team or a city with a fair weather fanbase. Not sure if he wants to develop as much as he doesn't want heat.

i am tired of hearing about this via reports.

I'll wait until the guy himself speaks on it.

Failing to build around Kenny Thomas was a disaster

47 million dollars over 7 years, right? I still remember gasping when the signing was announced.

Nothing tops the Fultz debacle. Bryan Colangelo was the teams biggest F'up.

DCasey91 wrote:Zion is going to have a sad ending, 4-5 years left at this play style. Physics don’t care

He’s a natural 270 (250 in high school plus 20 for maturity). His weight and mass distribution is insane. Gained 100 pounds in two years in high school naturally isn’t normal.

Already believe he has a genetic abnormality (Dads a linebacker and his mum is even more physically dom) dom/recessive genes no ways around it. Years from now they’ll be an official doctors report on it stating it so.

Can only do one of two things:

1. Play the finesse game ala Griffin

2. Or double down keep it at 270 and play like a 6”6” Shaq that moves like MJ with post centric offense. That would require a Myles Turner as rim protection. He’s unstoppable at the rim and has absurd efficiency anyway. So park the Mack truck with F1 handling there. No more high flying acrobatics but it’s auto offense all day.

No male elite sportsmen has ever played at their high school weight, posters on the main board are very ignorant of weight/mass distribution.

Zion is literally the GOAT basketball athlete as a teenager it’s obscene how a kid that was 250+, 6”6”, bear strength with zero professional weight training, highest torque ever recorded, speed, contortion that would make a figure skater envious, 40+ inch vert, dunk from the free throw line with ease... that was him as an 18 yr old. Would literally body any goat level player as an 18 yr old. Zion is very much one of one.
Everyone else has to put in the wrench time, he’s built entirely different.

Exhibit A.

2:37 would take out every kid under the sun. Torque + leverage = game over. His body mechanics are incredible look at the leg twist/whip. No wonder he isn’t going to last. Zion skipped a human evolution line and the human body just isn’t cut out for this.

Exhibit B.

Exhibit C.

See the noticeable differences? Zion is a 6”6” Shaq + MJ but only if that 18 yr old kid was fully grown up at 250 pounds! He’s the king of the manchilds. Both of them are lean (duh they are teenagers) the opposite is true for Zion.

Bears that can fly aren’t meant to last. He’ll be 300+ pounds once his career is over, haven’t seen anything like it.

It should really be zero weight training and high high intensity cardio workouts (boxing, swimming, running) strict diet with no carbs and even then he’d probably be too big lol. I wouldn’t put him near a dumbbell at all. Dude was brolic or like some anime character with zero training time lol

There is nothing natural about it. Sure some guys have bigger frames for sure but Id like to see a body fat test on our friend Zion Im guessing about 20% Im guessing the average NBA player is at 10-12%. He needs to be eat better. He was a bad eater as a kid with high body fat too lol. Nothing changed. Also I do not believe his reported weight is accurate at all. I feel like whatever he or his team has claimed he is feel free to add 20 to that. He should be able to play at roughly what Barkley played at once he realized being 280 at 6'5 was a problem. He could get to 250-260 and that would be fine.

He's had a lot of time to speak about the whole situation those last months if he wanted, so far he is not saying anything, why do you think that is?

He is a mental migdet then, because Embiid has had no issue at all, and it's not like he hasn't been criticized (let's remember the game he had 0 points), but then he tried to improve his game in the offseason and that's it. Ben Simmons is a primadonna, that's all there is really, and again, I have zero sympathy for him because he already knew before signing that contract if he liked the Team and the City or not. I would've had sympathy for him if he just signed the qualifying offer to get out of here ASAP, but instead he wanted both the money and then just a year later find an excuse to get out of here with a 4-year still remaining, when the reality is that he has always wanted out of here, not when drafted probably but since 2018 or 2019 most likely. The excuse is the "being thrown under the bus" thing of course, which I'm surprised at how much traction this thing got at the time and still now, when Embiid also blamed himself not only Simmons.

Ramona's source, considering the way it is written, almost certainly has to be someone at Klutch directly. Is this Klutch trying to tank Ben's value because they're mad the Sixers made their client show up for work?

Of course, I'm assuming she just didn't make it up. And that might be a bad assumption. NBA media love gossiping like a coffee klatch.
