Barnes shot isn't broken either like Simmons

i mean he's already a step up on Simmons because he's actually willing to shoot.
OG looked horrible in his first season too, now i would consider him a knockdown shooter. Obviously those kinds of transitions are rare, i don't think Barnes ever reaches that level but i think he can hit low 30% in a couple years because he's clearly practicing them.

OG shot 37% from the arc his rookie season. And shot 45% one of his seasons at Indiana. So he started from a much higher level.

It was such a low volume (less than 3 attempts). He shot 33% the following season on 0.3 more attempts. I don't think you can draw any conclusion from that sample.
This most recent season was his first season with significant attempts.

We can draw conclusions when he had a 45% year in college. Looking at his NBA history, 33% is the aberration, not 37%. Even then, 33% is a figure that is well above anything Barnes has posted anywhere.

I think Barnes will end up a MCW type shooter. Around 25% from 3. He probably won't be that high this year tho.

I think thats overly pessimistic. MCW literally made no progress on his shot since college. Even Dray is at 32% over his career.

I think 25-28% this year with a optimistic chance of getting to 35% as he develops is reasonable.

He was 0-9 in the preseason.

He could still have a great career and be a sub par 3 PT. shooter.

Both are lengthy athletes with a natural feel for the game. It was obvious these two had the highest upside.

Siakam came into the league shooting 14% from 3 and 68% from the FT line. Over the past 3 years he's shot 34% from 3 on 4.5 attempts/game (taking off the dribble 3's and the bail out shots as he's become the 1st option) and 80% from ft line.

Pretty weird to write off someone as a shooter seeing what the Raps have done with OG/Siakam/Norm, all of whom had big questions regarding their shooting and all of whom got form tweaks from the Raps development staff, 2 of whom have become elite/borderline elite 3pt shooters and the other a very respectable shooter given the shots he's forced to take (tf thought Siakam could even masquerade as a 1st option?)

If they could make him a good shooter, it would be amazing. He was one of the worst shooters I ever saw, at Florida State.

I know he was really raw and didn't start playing basketball until really late.

Barnes isn't raw, he's played his whole life.

Norm Powell ws a 4 year graduate shooting 30% from 3 until the Raps got their hands on him. Helped him switched his form up and he quickly transformed into a shooter.

Barnes has a willingness to shoot; if he has a willingness to improve, i have no doubt that he'll be fine. He may never become elite, but i dont think being a solid shooter you have to respect is really out of reach at all.

that's not telling much.

2015 preseason rookie Norman Powell 0-9 from 3. 38% career 3 point shooter. 31% in college.
2016 preseason rookie Pascal Siakam 0-3 from 3. 33% career 3 point shooter. 18% in college.

Barnes shot 28% from 3 in college which isn't good obviously but if he improves in similar fashion, he will be somewhere between Siakam and Powell at around a 35% career 3pt shooter, it's probably going to take 2-3 years though.

Jalen Green needs to improve by a lot. Right now it's not looking pretty.
