Lol what

This wasn't clear, but I'm legitimately curious about how this game works if you don't mind indulging. I just googled it and max level is 750? What in the hell.

I started writing something to sum up how complicated and insane the build combinations (which are everything in this game) are, but it got to be too long. Short answer is it's like Diablo where your gear and skills can dramatically change how you play, but there's just a laughably larger amount of usable items, weapons, armor, skills, abilities, and systems. You combine that with the fact that gameplay wise it's very, very hard and you end up with a game where you spend so many hours in the menus just so you can optimize everything as much as possible.

One thing I heard in a video recently that was interesting was a well known guide/walkthrough dude said that in your first play through you literally don't need to worry about anything. The game didn't even start until NG+ because of how many new things really opened up. And he's totally right. But what's hilarious/maddening is that since that video came out, you can now say that about NG++, or even NG+++. They added three new DLC packages with new missions, enemies, and stages, raised the level caps three times, added another unique item slot for something called Demon Paradise Picture Scolls and I have no idea what that's about.

I watch endgame videos from dudes with levels three times higher than mine and they look like they're playing a completely different game.

Tonight I spent a few hours farming for a gear set and weapons so I could craft equipment that comes with additional Luck and Item Drop Rate. I'm gonna have to Temper the skills they individually come with so I add additional Equipment Drop Rate and Life. I'll have to change the level scaling on all 11 items in the build so they scale with my preferred attributes of Strength and Stamina. I'll have to change my Clan to something that provides a bonus to Luck. I'll also have to change my Guardian Spirit and Soul Cores for the same reason.

This all will very much change how I play and it's all so I can more efficiently farm enemies for the Smithing Texts (basically the recipes for gear) I don't have. According to the in-game stat counter I have 52%, which is higher than I thought. Here is a spreadsheet of all the Smithing Texts in the game.

Thanks man, this is really interesting despite only understanding about 1/3 words  I had no idea the game was this complex. It seems kind of like when I try to explain POE to someone with all of the systems, items, end game, etc. - dramatically different games I'm sure, but same idea in explaining.

Anyone that is still playing Valheim, I just found about this map where you enter your world's seed and it shows you your entire unlocked map w/ all points of interest. I've only used it for finding more bees so far, I'll wait until I get stuck to see if I need it for more than that.

Just watched an IGN video from today counting down the best Assassin Creed games. I began it ready to be mad that Black Flag wouldn't be in the top five. As it got closer to #1 I started to brace myself they'd find a way to skip it completely. But nope, they really did rank Black Flag #1 overall. They didn't mention anything about the traditional AC gameplay (which honestly sucks), just that it was an awesome pirate simulator. Can't argue with that, it rules.

There is something very comforting about getting back into the Far Cry formula.

Been playing Metroid Dread exclusively handheld so far and loving it. We got a puppy a few weeks ago so I haven’t been able to play games as much because I have been watching the little guy in my kitchen like a hawk. Switch to the rescue!

My only complaint is that it will end at some point and I’ll have an itch for more Metroid(vanias).

Started Episode 4 on The Long Dark. I missed this game, very immersive.

We’ve just switched internet providers from Spectrum to TDS and are having major issues with our WiFi. As soon as our son opens his laptop our signal drops to almost nothing. Even the Ethernet hardline (via our router) into our pc has no signal.

We are using a tp link router (model AC1750) and never had this issue with Spectrum.

Any ideas?

Could be a number of things. The modem could be shoddy, have you reconfigured for your new ISP, have you updated the firmware, are you in single or dual band, etc…

I’d factory reset if you haven’t already and work from there.

I updated and reset our router and things seem better. My son is overjoyed at the fact I told him I wanted him gaming all evening to make sure things are operating correctly.

26 hours in, and Tales of Arise is shockingly good. Best combat in the series, gorgeous visual design, strong soundtrack, enjoyable cast, and most surprisingly of all - they're taking a big swing with an incredibly fraught narrative and (gulp) handling it well.

Yes! If I wasn't traveling the past week I'd have gone back to it quickly, as D2R has been having all sorts of server issues this week. Though hopefully they're almost resolved now.

But now I've got my copy of Metroid Dread finally, and POE is about to suck me back in this league for at least a few weeks as they just had an awesome reveal. So right back to having too many things to play again :D

I'm shocked how into Back 4 Blood I am so far. I'm sure it won't last, as I tend to dislike zombie games, but this is a fun one so far.

Had a Target giftcard so I bought Madden 22 on PS5. Haven't bought one in at least 7 years or so, we'll see how this goes.

Yea, this one looks like it rules. I started a Game Pass download when I was home for lunch.

Even with all the new stuff out there the last couple weeks and the backlog of games I've dipped into but not totally been invested in, I just reinstalled Injustice 2 again. I was anxious for the movie but the reviews are terrible. But I read years 1-3 this week, started year four, and I just really love the versions of these DC characters. It's also the only fighting game series I still enjoy playing.

I've gotta be honest, Madden 22's in-game gameplay is legit and it's gorgeous on PS5. It's way better than what I've played last (Madden 15 or 16). The modes though, leave a ton to be desired. I'm 9-0 in a franchise and the scouting, coaching skill trees, player upgrades, etc. are all slow, boring, and just poorly done. For $30 it's worth it but I'd never pay the $70 it was.
