Situations like this are why I felt Morey best strategy was to just wait it out a while. The NBA changes extremely fast, a month into the season and the landscape can be very different. It never unfolds how you think it will before the season starts. Someone will get hit with a disaster, someone a miracle.

The Pels, Clippers, Nuggets, and Warriors are dealing with key players being out. The Mavs are dealing with one of their maxes being underwhelming and wanting to move (referring to KP.) That isn’t even mentioning the rebuilding of Houston and OKC and the vulnerability of the Lakers due to their key players age and injury history. My point is the west might be talented but it’s also vulnerable. I think we have a solid chance of capitalizing on that vulnerability as long as we stay healthy.

Just to clarify Anthony Davis is not old. He's 28. However, he does have an injury history.

True, but they are the oldest team in the league with 9 guys over 30 and soon to have 4 guys over 36. Age isn’t necessarily bad, but over an 82 game season it can be an issue. I see the Lakers struggling with managing play time and staying healthy. All of that is before you mention current injuries and players injury history.

I know I tend to be overhyped about random non NBA players, but I recently found an article about Ishmail Wainright.

He reminds me a lot Grant Williams and PJ Tucker. He is 6'5, 7'1 wingspan, 235lbs. Can shoot 3s, pass, rebound and defend. I could not find any info about his current team, last info was that he signed two-years contract with Toronto.

He won me with this interview

I watched the highlights of the Sixers 20 point win over the Pelicans, but the Pels kept it close for three quarters. Sixers only opened it up in the fourth with Korkmaz playing the JJ Reddick role.

Embiid was icing his knees in the first quarter, but came back later.

Ingram looked good - Pelicans aren’t going to roll over for us without Zion.

If Embiid already has knee issues and Simmons holds out or sabotages it will make Philly desperate to move Simmons. Harris cannot carry them over an entire season, no matter how good their role players are. That said, I still wouldn’t mind Philly knocking off some western conference teams, as long as they aren’t us.

Blazers with a bad loss early. Maybe the Kings will be a force this season though.

What do folks think about Cleveland using Markkanen as SF in a Jarrett Allen-Evan Mobley-Markkanen front court? Crazy like a fox or just crazy?

Hard to say without seeing the game. As a rule I like putting size on the floor, (twin towers fan all the way,) but Markkanen needs to be fast enough to defend opposing SFs or at least run the zone properly. Probably a good idea.

So good news for the Wolves and bad news for the Pels. They started Josh Hart and he was forced to leave the game with a non contact knee injury. He only played 10 minutes. Hart was filling in as a starter for Zion and his injury makes them even more thin.

If Lillard shoots 2/9 from 3 instead of 0/9, Blazers win by 3. Also, Harrison Barnes went MJ mode, this might stay his best game of the season when the season ends. I'd say this was one of those outlier games because of shooting, and the actual takeaway could easily be that the Blazers are pretty strong, while the Kings are weak.

Markkanan really sucks I am not sure why Cleveland is trying to make him happen. They are such a mess.

I have been watching the Mavs vs Hawks game, what in God’s name is happening in the Bucks @ Heat. 43-72 at the half?

Just checked the box

1. No Holiday
2. 8-30 3-pointers
3. Grayson Allen is starting at SG
