Luka clearly took plays off late in his last game. It's likely that he was just in the doldrums as mental engagement and consistent effort were the most common features of his game and likely did him in with us. BUT. If it was in any way deliberate because he wanted out (and we couldn't find a trade partner), then man oh man screw him. Otherwise, best of luck and hopefully he fixes his issues and sticks with a team.

So with Luka waived and Aminu (I think) a likely candidate to get cut, we're suddenly more thin at PF again. We have Thad (for now), Doug starting, Keldon may fill in when we go small ball, and perhaps KBD who played 25% at the position.

Bobby Marks, ESPN’s NBA front office insider, projected a possible contract extension for Walker would range between $10 million to $12 million per year.

“I’m not sweating it too much,” Walker said. “I’ve put in a lot of time and effort this year. It will pay it’s dues.”

I really hope we get a deal done, and especially at that range. I've felt we have to overpay slightly to more than slightly in our market but DJ's and Derrick's deals were reasonable, Jakob's all the more so. Same with all the UFAs we signed this off-season. Hopefully this does not go the RFA route.

Best of luck to Aminu. He was a pro in his limited time here, good attitude, and hopefully he finds a spot where he can be helpful.

And now we're on the clock to hopefully work something out with respect to extending Lonnie...

p.s. I remember Derrick's deal was announced after the deadline and until then there was concern it hadn't been done. Hopefully we hear something sooner rather than later.

Then again, Lonnie's agents may feel that he's worth more than the projected range and with him now getting a bigger, more set role he can prove it. It's risky as there are a lot of good SGs in the league and another crop just turned pro. A bird in the hand, etc. Hopefully there's forthright communication. It sounds like Lonnie wants to stay so I hope his agency doesn't price him out of a deal. We seem to have a good relationship with them, and DJ got a more than fair deal, so fingers crossed.

The Spurs could clear more than $36 million next offseason in cap space, which would make them a possible suitor for Ayton, who helped the Suns reach the NBA Finals last season. But they wouldn’t be able to get to that point should they re-sign Walker.
