Any word on expectations for Brisset?

Props to Turbo_Zone for the sig.

Does anyone else think this speaks to the general lack of athleticism of most players the Pacers have had? Not intended to take anything away from Isaiah Jackson. He is very athletic.

I'd say lack of speed but if you want to call that athleticism, I can't argue. Sumner had it but he's out. Stanley had it but was otherwise lost.

Hard to say. But, with Warren out a while longer, he’ll definitely get a chance to contribute at the 3/4 spots.

Maybe. But I wouldn’t necessarily conflate that Isaiah is called the “most athletic since” a notoriously athletic guy with “the team has no athletes”.

I think Jackson’s athletic ability will make him a spot contributor this season kinda like Brissett was contributing last season. His rawness or lack of NBA experience will hurt him against savy vets he goes up against, but that’s part of the expected learning curve.

Totally agree. It may only be a couple minutes every couple nights, but there will be opportunities for him to play a small role here and there.

Re: 2021 Free Agency & Off-season
Today at 6pm is he deadline for Brogdon, Turner, and Levert to possibly extend their contracts until next offseason.
Warren and Lamb could legally extend anytime during the season up until the minute before they would become free agents in July.

The Pacers might want to first see if any of those guys can make it through a season without missing a bunch of games due to injuries before giving out extensions. The exception might be Turner, as he seems to be the most sturdy of the group. Those contracts would add up to a ton of money going to guys they don't know if the team can count on.
Maybe that is just me, as I am really tired of all the injuries.

The only guy on this list of 5 I'd consider resigning now is Turner. He's the only one I have any confidence in the sustainability of his body and game two years out.

I think he'd be maybe the least likely to extend, until he sees what Carlisle has in mind for the reality of the Turner/Sabonis pairing.

That's interesting. It seems as though most of us looked at it from the team's side of the ledger, while you have looked at the player's viewpoint. You're right though, in that it might make a difference on the likelihood of a player signing an extension.

Thanks! I try to.
I think all the guys (other than Lamb) would be good signings by the team to extend, since extensions are limited to only a 20% raise on their last years salary, and then 8% yearly. They’d still be around market value at those pay rates. But when you look at it from the players perspective, it changes quite a bit what’s reality. None of these guys have hit unrestricted free agency yet in their careers, and many are still looking for their “ideal situations”. It’s not easy to find that middle ground.

extensions are way below the max. so signing a player to an extension (it happened to Brogdon today) is a mutual agreement that he won't be holding out for a max contract at the end of his current deal.

Re: 2021 Free Agency & Off-season
It will be interesting to see what Pritchard and Carlisle come up with for the future path of roster construction.
Player decisions to make based on first LeVert’s and Warren’s health and their performance, plus trade possibilities at deadline this season. Also Lamb and Goga’s season this year. Do either break out of what’s not been stellar time so far to make them valuable ? I believe that they have the ability to get better. Do any of the end of the bench surprise and contribute ?
Closest thing to certain is
Brogdon
Sabonis
Turner
McConnell
Holiday
Duarte
Jackson
I would love to see 6’7” Craig become an active cutter and scorer like McDermott was besides playing his defense game.
Also hope if Kelan is a shooter that he gets aggressive knocking down 3’s.
My two sleepers to contribute when not at the Mad Ants are Washington and Jarreau.

McDermott was literally one of the best in the league at that. And Craig came in free agency for so little for a reason. He can play defense, but offensive,y he’s much more of just a “dunkers spot” kind of outlet player than a creator slasher/finisher like Doug.
Realistically I think you’ll see Justin more in that Doug replacement role, with Duarte taking more of Justin’s guard role from last year.

Re: 2021 Free Agency & Off-season
I’m wondering Scoot about if Duarte will be doing the cutting and moving that Doug did and Justin doing the spot up 3 balls ? I just haven’t noticed Justin moving as much but maybe I missed seeing that part of his game. I just recall Justin behind the 3 line stroking it.
I sure hope the Pacers develop 3 point accuracy this year because it just feels like they’re a bit deficient there. I miss the days of having a knock down long range shooter like Reggie and Billy Keller.
I know it’s a lot to ask of a rookie but I hope Duarte can become that Mr. Automatic

I agree. Just think as a player he’s the one most likely to stay healthy and be and maintain or build on his game.
