New page, new team, no cynical Chicago Sports fan doom and gloom. We crush the Pistons on the road to start this new era off right.

So I have the same concerns as everybody. Rebounding, Pat and the backup 4 and 5. But not necessarily for this game.

I can't put into words how excited I am. This is the first time since the DRose years that I've been so hyped.

It will be a successful year for all of us and I honestly look forward to see Lonzo Ball having a career year!

Let the game begin ... the long nights can come!

I think Bulls win by 10+. Pistons might make it a game in the 2nd half but Chicago will pull away and win by 10-15 in the end.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

Just have to make sure to keep Jerami Grant in check. I don't think they have a chance at hanging if he struggles.

Grant is their PF, so I guess that means that Pat and Javonte will have primary responsibility for guarding him. Can they stay with Grant? I believe Javonte can, but have my questions about Pat. Will be interesting to watch.

Pistons will run PnR with Grant and Stewart, in an attempt to force Vuc to guard 2 on 1, or have to defend Grant one-on-one. Pat and Javonte will need to go over the top of the screen and stay attached to Grant, or Grant will score a bunch. Can Pat and Javonte get over screens the way we have seen Lonzo and Caruso do it? They better, or we may have to switch Lonzo or Caruso on to Grant.

Last season when we faced the Pistons in March PWill held Grant to well below league average scoring efficiency, but a gaudy 26 points on 22 shots. No idea why you're questioning him rather than Javonte.

Well, in February Grant scored 43 points on 25 shots against PWill and the Bulls. So that's an average of 34.5 points a game, on 23.5 shots per game, against PWill and the Bulls. I'd say my questions about PWill's defense against Grant are justified. If you have watched any of the Bulls' preseason games, then you would know why I have more confidence in Javonte against a guy like Grant.

I think this Bulls team will come out to make a statement honestly and I don’t think the Pistons can answer. For the first time in a long time I expect a win.

Feel free to list the players "like Grant" that Javonte covered.

I'm not concerned with PAW or Javonte guarding him. Unlike in previous seasons, we're not leaving players 1 on 1 on an island. If they get beat, the rotation and help defense will be there. Unless Grant gets uncharacteristically hot from 3, we should be able to mitigate the damage.

As for Vuc, he should be okay. We're not switching like we usually do, and he'll stay in drop position on the screens. Will be up to PAW and Javonte to make sure they get around those screens. If not, and Vuc ends up having to leave Stewart, I'm comfortable with letting Stewart beat us from deep. If that's what beats us, then so be it.

New York is going to be some knock down drag out fights I feel. One that is how Thibs teams generally play, and we are trying to prove something against the "old" Bulls regime. Plus we are likely going to be fighting for similar seeding position this season. NYK "might" be better this year if Kemba works out. They also might fall off a cliff. They will for sure be fun games. I feel confident we can wipe the floor with Detroit and Cleveland though for sure. We are that much better this year.

Should be a fun season no matter what. I am hoping preseason was not a total illusion and we can maintain that D effort and the flow on offense. As long as we look/play like we did--I think it should be good.

I think NY will be good this year, but maybe not as good as last year. I liked the Kemba signing from a value perspective...same with Fournier. That said, I think NY will really miss Bullock's defense. Also, I think Noel is a better player than Robinson, but Robinson will likely get the starting gig.

If we find success in wins, I think the D will maintain the high energy. Winning cures all. If we start losing, this team could spiral and all the lackluster effort we have been warned about from certain guys will rear it's ugly head.

We have a couple things going for us though. Billy Donovan from college on has always had active high energy defenses and we have the personal to do that. Caruso, Alize and Ball should lead by example with the effort which is infectious, especially if you are winning. Pat has the physical tools and knows he has to play hard on D this year as does Zach. So we hopefully should be good. Time will tell but I am optimistic. In preseason they showed that they can do it. Granted the competition in preseason is softer and we didn't play a great team outside of Memphis but it was a good precursor of what this team is potentially capable of.

I think I recall seeing a blurb about how hard the Knicks were playing in the preseason... I remember something about Julius Randle diving for a loose ball at the end of a preseason game. With the history that Thibs/DRose/Taj all have with the team/city and Joakim being in the house on Oct. 28th, the energy in the United Center for this game should be interesting. I already have my tickets so I am ready.

We should beat the Pistons tomorrow.

I was going to go to that game, but I have too many other games early in the season I am going to for work and have to see my family at some point lol. I really wanted to see this game live though.
