Gaylord and Jim Perry -- both won Cy Young Awards. Gaylord won one in each league.

The Perry boys combined for 39 big league seasons and 529 wins.

Also saw the Watt boys mentioned. I'm not saying they're at the top of the heap... but... JJ Watt won three DPOY awards. His younger brother has already been a finalist twice and is currently the highest paid defensive player in the league. If he continues on his trajectory... both being the "best" defensive players for at least one season would be a legit accomplishment.

One more add on: Phil and Tony Esposito. One was considered the best goalie for a spell... the other one of the best players. Both HOFers. Granted, the talent pool wasn't quite as great back then...

Michael and Ralf Schumacher need to be mentioned. Michael is maybe the best formula one driver ever and his brother Ralf was not great in comparison, but he was still a top 5 driver in the world in his prime.

Always blows my mind that all of them made it to the NHL! What are the chances of that? Makes you wonder how much of their success is due to the foundation that they had.

NHL have had so many good Brother combos..

Phil and Tony Esposito
Scott and Rob Niedermayer
Maurice and Henri Richard
Pavel and Valeri Bure
Henrik and Daniel Sedin

Nobody has mentioned these 2 though: Horace and Harvey Grant (probably the best identical twins) and Albert and Bernard King

Way to read the op

Sorry I missed that! Read through it too fast and missed the Grants

Yeah, specifically for basketball, while the Gasols might be leading right now, I like the Currys to outdo them in the end.

It is an interesting debate.

Like say Steph, on a scale of 1-10 is a 10 level player and Seth is a 5, and Pau is an 8 and Marc is a 7...which combo of 15 is better at that point? I lead towards the 8 and 7, but it's all pretty subjective.

Marc was a 2x all nba and 1x DPOY. if he's a 7 Seth is a 2 or 3 man.

And Jesus. Limit it to three brothers and it really narrows the field. The 3 Alou brothers once played in the same outfield together, for the Giants.

Then in the nba you'd have what the Barry Brothers? I think one more?

Don’t the Stall brothers have a couple in the the NHL as well? Like more than two?

It really doesn’t surprise me as someone who’s lived in Canada his whole life. When you see how hockey families live in this country, its no wonder to me. Its also the reason more and more NBA players are the sons of ex players ( pro or not ) or the sons of great athletes ( wiggins and gordon ). Guys who grew up in poor neighborhoods used to fill the NBA but thats a thing of the past now. The people with the best opportunities is how these leagues are gonna be attained from here on. And yes, Giannis lived in a car, there will always be exceptions for “freaks”.

What happens when Steph goes to 11? You can't rate a unanimous MVP on the normal scale...he's historic.

Here's another compelling point ... in the case of a "tie", which kind of pairing do you give priority to .... is it the two strong brothers (and I disagree that Marc is that much weaker, just harder to measure) or the "11" and the "5".

Besides it might not be a tie, if Seth hits game winners for Luka and the Mavs roll off a couple of titles ... like I said they aren't done yet. If at some point Seth is a 6 or 7 ... if he can have a high usage season and drop 50% from 3 ... then 10 is enough for Steph ... even if by retirement he might be a 12.

I'd propose Harmonic mean as the best way to measure this.

When your dad was freaky tall, good chance you will be too. Means ALWAYS helps but the first 10 steps to making any pro sports league are genetics, genetics, genetics...
