DeMar DeRozan will be an eventual HOF’er

Post#1 » by AsparaGus » Tue Oct 19, 2021 8:14 pm

…or will he be treated like Michael Redd?

He’s a HOFer in my books.

I know the bar is kind of low, but:

- 4 All-Star appearances and
- a career scoring average that likely ends up below 20 ppg

ain't cutting it.

He's light on accolades. He needs 2-3 more all-star appearances, a big championship run or two, or a Finals MVP, or like 7+ more effective years.

a ring in the next 2 years would would yea, a couple all stars as well but being a mega all nba guy isnt what the HOF is about in basketball. I think the all time scoring list is his way in.

Doubt it. BBR has his probability at 6% rn. Just behind Isaiah Thomas…

He's got a chance.
A couple All Star appearances and the Bulls becoming a perennial playoff team would probably get him there, especially if he plays well in the playoffs and sheds his "playoff choker" label.
And I think all that is possible. He was always pretty good for the Spurs in big games, including the 7-game playoff series they played with the Nuggets. He's progressed as a player but the narrative around him hasn't -- it's still stuck in Toronto. He has to do something to usurp that for the HoF to happen imo.

The thought is in the right place, I think he deserves it on a personal level. But unless he pulls some crazy ish off in the next few years, nah.

I was thinking he would be until I looked at his accolades a few weeks ago and realized he was only an All-Star 4 times. I feel like I’m not the only one who thought he was a much more decorated player. At one point I feel like he was the #2 SG in the league behind Harden

Hes miles off on accolades and accomplishments.

He's even further away on talent.

Nope.

No chance.

Peak was pretty low and little post season success.

Y'all gotta realize he's gonna get to 20K+ points, 5K+ assists and 5K+ rebounds.
And he's still playing at an All Star level, just hasn't been on a good team in a few years.
He's not as far off as many seem to think imo. If he gets 3 more All Star appearances, for example, he's almost a lock I'd think given his career totals too.

His actual performance and output on the court was nowhere near HOF level, so he'd be completely relying on accolades and narrative to get in.

And with only 4 all star appearances, I see no way he makes it.

BBallref agrees, giving him only a 6% chance.

Demar will not make the HOF, barring an unprecedented Steve Nash level performance spike at his age, and then sustaining that over multiple years.

"he just needs to nearly double his allstar appearances at 31"
He's not that close. He realistically has 3 prime ish years left. They will have to either be great prime years, the Bulls will need to be great, or he needs to extend that prime another 4ish years.

Getting 2 more Allstar games, and a couple more (potential, hypotherical) ECSF showings? Ceiling of another ECF as the leader. With those stats, and the imprint he had on the Raptors organization (and Canada basketball at large), I think he'll be a lock barring injuries.

I also think he'll eventually be remembered for what he brought off the court. He (accidentally) brought mental health to the forefront, and then bravely took it on as a Black male raised in Compton.

Dudes under appreciated on and off the court. That much is clear. HOF.

Hes not far off. If he makes 2 more all star teams good playoff success or a potential finals appearance and +20k career points he will get in.. but I guess some ppl just look at him as this generations Jerry Stackhouse.

No question if we're talking about the Canada sports HOF. Can't believe Norm Baker is the only one still

This is a strange comment to me on two levels. One, he is born/raised in Compton and two, how is Steve Nash not in the Canadian sports HOF??

he played in canada for almost a decade, that's a full generation of kids from 6 to 16 years old. played an important part in shaping the We the North identity of the Raptors. basketball HOF, i dont think so, but canada sports HOF, i think it's well deserved. whether, he goes in would be up to the people decide who goes in, but if it came down to a vote, he'd be in..
