My thinking here isn't that relationships don't matter. But that Simmons would give the Blazers a chance at contending they don't currently have. I'm not just out here playing with a trade machine lol.

I know, I get that there is potential upside to the move, just want you to consider the human aspect that may make that upside unattainable as consideration why this is not an obvious slam dunk deal they should push all in for.

It really all depends whether Lillard condones Simmons behavior and prefers him to CJ. Because if he does not, I mean think if you were in the situation and your buddy on the team and co-captain the last 8 years or whatever was traded for a malcontent. It could go very very badly too.

I operate under the belief that any deal of this size gets run by Dame and they wouldn't do it if he told them he was opposed. I understand relationships and stuff. Dirk and JET were like brothers for a long time too. But I think if Dallas needed to include JET to go get a big time player Dirk probably wouldn't have blocked it. Luckily they were able to get Tyson for cheap and pulled out a title we didn't see coming.

Because we see the negative side of putting too much stock into friends. Look at the Wolves and what it cost to go get Towns' buddy Russsell. That wasn't smart.

That's also quite an apples and oranges comparison since they traded for him whereas Dame and CJ we're practically drafted together (one year apart, but still).

That's not to say your point isn't valid, a team needs to sometimes do what it needs to in order to get better, even if that's breaking up close friends. Thhhhhaaatttt saiiiiddd... breaking up close friends - while also losing additional assets - for a malcontent who's being levels of unprofessional we haven't seen in quite some time... that's another story. One of the biggest knocks on Simmons is his work ethic / passion for the game, something he's only feeding into currently. Those are two things that Lillard will have absolutely no time for. If Lillard thinks he can turn that around in Simmons, then maybe he would OK a deal, but if he is looking at Simmons like we all are, Dame would want nothing to do with that nonsense.

Funny how Morey is playing hard ball with Ben without factoring in the cost of team chemistry and focus. Are the 76ers not competing for a championship this season? Why bring on all these drama7? Just for some extra assets Morey thinks he can get? Fat greedy sack of

I dont see how this is the Sixers fault at all. Ben just rocked up out if the blue because he wanted his money, Sixers would have been much happier if he stayed home and never turned up. But because he did turn up they have to let him in as contractually he is a player on the team. So not much the Sixers can do, but hopefully fine his ass constantly for being a twat.

The one person that can be blamed besides Simmons is Morey, just stop being greedy and asking a ridiculous price. This is going to be a wild ride.

If the Sixers were smart, they would have either traded him already or just have him sit and continue to pay him to avoid this mess that has happened. If you thought Simmons value was low, it will be worst now.

agreed. the coach might yell at you and they might expect things out of you that go against your principles... for example like come to practice... or even worse, like shoot the basketball.... in a real game!

as a 3rd party fan with no ties to philly or the 76ers, a dislike for simmons, klutch/rich paul and who thinks morey is overrated, I am thoroughly enjoying this debacle.

Imagine a coach telling you that despite your known flaws that everyone else is wrong and keep playing your style and way. Then when it’s all said and done and those SAME issues come up and the season is over the said coach acts confused on what happened and gives a non committed answer if you can help a team be successful.

I don't think the 76ers had passing up open dunks and actively avoiding any situation that results in FREE throws in their mind when they encouraged simmons to play his game.

This can't be repeated enough

The amount of people defending Philly is comical. The dude was slandered by Philly fans and the organization all summer. It's clearly not about money as Simmons is giving up money.

Dude wants out of Philly, which he made clear to the team and fans who threw him under the bus. The organization hasn't been negotiating with other teams in good faith, and Simmons is in the wrong here?

Get real.

No. YOU get real.

The Sixers fan base has supported Ben Simmons like f'n mad. Won't shoot? No problem - he does so many other things! Jimmy Butler suggests in a team group chat some suggestions for Ben before a game? F THAT I AM BEN SIMMONS YO.

(and you KNOW I ain't signing that extension unless Jimmy is outta here)

Coaches want him to work with a shooting coach in the offseason? Ummm. OK. Drew Hansen? Chris Johnson?

Nope - some jabroni assistant coach for a UC team that - coincidentally - also has a last name of Simmons (imagine that!)

Brett Brown says he wants Ben to shoot at least one 3 a game. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

People on this board trying to slander Philly fans for comments after the Atlanta series. Well maybe we are tired of seeing the guy's Instagram feed from LA while his game NEVER. GETS. BETTER.

If you want to defend Ben because he may be having legitimate mental health issues, I am with you there. I think that may have a lot to do with what is happening. But in the absense of that, throwing shade at Sixers fans because, two years after the whole Jimmy-with-the-ball-Ben-in-the-dunkers-spot thing (ALL OF YOU REMEMBER THAT RIGHT?), we go through the same damn thing again.

Why should he get rid of Simmons just to get rid of him? If he does a mediocre, or even bad, deal it won't help much with their championship aspirations plus it'll eat up x amount of cap space.

Morey is waiting it out right now because once the season starts teams might have a different view on where their teams are heading. Someone might decided that Simmons would help them and offer a deal for him. Plus all the players who recently signed contracts will be available to trade in December so that opens up his options.

I don't know if that will work out, or what they'll end up trading him for, but I think that's the plan right now.

That is the plan. The Sixers are fine. Embiid is the alpha - the team follows him. Players become available on December 15th. What if Washington starts 5-and-12? Huh? What if Sacramento is 5-and-12?

The only people who say this is an unsalvagable disaster or dumpster fire are the fans of other teams or the media, who are feeding off of this.

That's fine... but don't go asking for a kings ransom for the same player you're throwing under the bus.

I'm a Raps fan we went through this with VC (who had 3 years left). The moment you turn on a player (which we both did), his value plummets.

Just be happy you're not getting a washed up Mourning, Eric + Aaron Williams, #16 for Ben Simmons.

Your GM isn't negotiating in good faith and when a situation gets this bad, sometimes it's better to let go, and take the best deal possible. The longer this holds out the worst it gets for Philly.

Ben Simmons + Klutch has all the power in this situation.

I don't see it. The league is 1 step away from stepping in. If the team keeps suspending him the league will step in and impose their own disciplinary actions.

From what I saw with the Silver interview (reading between the lines) - the league is planning something as we speak. They're not going to allow the Klutch dog & pony show to overshadow anything else (already has overshadowed opening night)

Ben Simmons so weird. You dont want to play and be sent home? Miss every defensive rotation and dog it in practice. You dont need to be adversarial, just be as apathetic as possible and they'll pay you sit at home while they find a trade.
