You sure are wrong a lot.

Oh, bless your heart.

You know I'm with you 99% of the time, but this is a little wierd. Cade "twisted his ankle" 20 days ago.Manocad wrote:johanliebert wrote:Why not just give a timeline instead of this clown show.
Because you can't say "This injury will be 100% healed in one week, then he'll play"?

Now what I'm hoping is that Casey doesn't want to play him because he's not up to speed practice wise, but you better believe Gores wanted Cade out there for the rebirth of the Pistons franchise for opening night. For Cade to miss opening night, the injury had to of been more severe then the team let on, and i don't think its possible to argue this point.
Do I think its a career ending, or other BS thing? No, of course not, but a simple twisted ankle doesn't keep the #1 pick in the draft, out of opening night.

Bey gets to play through some minor ankle soreness because he isn't super valuable and the face of the franchise. Cade is "too valuable for us" to take a risk on and those are the words used directly by Casey.

it's not really a day-to-day injury if he the player has been out for three weeks.
and what do you mean? these are high-level sports doctors that can (and do) give timelines based on the severity of the injury and the time that it has taken other athletes to come back from them. the team absolutely has a timeline, they're obviously not reporting it. like weaver said cade is "pretty much day to day" but then said he "would anticipate hopefully seeing him when we get back off the road" which is ten days away lol. again - that's not day to day, that's more week-to-week territory.

Manocad wrote:What are YOU talking about? Day-to-day means could be today, could be tomorrow. It has nothing to do with how long it took from the day the injury occurred to the point of it being on day-to-day status. You can break your leg, have it in a cast for 10 weeks, rehab after getting the cast off for 2 weeks and be day-to-day at that point. In no way, shape or form can ANY doctor say "Rolled ankle? He WILL be playing 14 days from now." By the same token, a guy could sprain his ankle, be out for the rest of the game, then be day-to-day from that point forward. Timelines for recovery from injuries are projections, not guarantees.

The team knew exactly how bad it was when it happened, but downplayed for as long as they could to milk as many tickets as possible.

cade isn't day to day if he's already ruled out more than a week in advance. day to day typically means they'll be good to go in the next couple days i.e. on the verge of returning from injury.
and i'm aware timelines are not guarantees, the issue is that the team never gave fans a timeline (and you know they have one because they met with cade's team about it). instead they've been saying "day to day" for three weeks and NOW say he's out for at least the next ten days (until the 30th).

Knowing the severity of the injury relative to what was damaged is absolutely easy--x-rays, swelling, etc. But here's the part you're missing--the healing part is not only undetectable in some cases, but not guaranteed nor the same person to person. Why do you think doctors ask the patient how much something hurts? Because they can't determine that everything causing pain has healed.
Now, if you want to argue that the team milked it to sell tickets, have at it. Did you buy a ticket? No? Then you have no reason to be upset.

Maybe they should have chosen their words a little more carefully. The way they described it from the start shouldnt have been anywhere near enough to keep anyone out for at least a month.
And no, i didnt buy a ticket. However, misleading people to sell tickets is pretty scummy. I dont need to be duped by them to acknowledge that. Besides, who made you the authority on what people should or shouldnt be annoyed at?
