it seems like they turn it off at the start of the year, every year. i would very much like to see this brought back!

Howard is aware of the problem. Hopefully it's back soon. It's extremely useful and it sucks not having it.
I do recall it being turned off in the past. I would think with a major site like this they shouldn't have to do that, they should be able to handle the increased traffic at the start of the season.
