Poll: prediction for Magic record
So here we are. Game one is in a matter of a couple dozen hours. And again there are significant injuries up and down the roster.
At least four Magicians appear to be out on opening night leading a totally unknown starting lineup with an even less clear rotation.
Where do you see this team landing? The media is not kind to the Magic. But the roster has talent (when healthy).
The 538 computers has the Magic making the playoffs at 0.8% (meaning if the season was played 1000 times, the Magic would make the playoffs in 8 of those). 538 Orlando Magic link
The poll question: how many games will the Magic win over this next 82?

Re: Poll: prediction for Magic record
We finally made it guys!
I think at the absolute best we can win around 27-29 games. I can see us getting W's against some playoff teams and I hope for some close L's. There's going to be a lot of pain as well as we have a young team.
There's plenty to be excited for in terms of development rather that the results in the W/L column.
How our rookies will adjust to the NBA, hopefully as the season goes on we can see start to see a bit more from them (I'm not going to judge them too much as they are kids still).
The continued development of Hampton, Cole, Chuma, Bamba and WCJ. Should be interesting seeing our front court especially, they looked decent in the preseason. Plus the eventual return of JI and Fultz should be interesting.
I really hope these guys buy into what Mosley wants from them as well. Even though he is an experienced assistant around the league I'm sure he'll have a lot of growing pains with our game plans for certain opponents.
All in all I'm really excited to have the season back and to watch Magic basketball

Anywhere from 18 to 25 wins wouldn't shock me. I don't see any scenario where they go over 25.
I'll guess 22-60.

Re: Poll: prediction for Magic record
By the averages, it looks like we are expecting about a 24-win season. We fans will always "see more" in the team than the media.
For me, assuming the Magic gets healthy and stays healthy, a 24+ win season is certain. But that is an IF which has been squared. So maybe I should temper my enthusiasm and view something more in the 21-win range as my personal prediction for win totals.
I still like the Over for the OPP expectation of 19 wins though.

About bold part. They keep adding players with injuries so this isn't suprise.
Okeke was drafted with ACL tear, missed end of NCAA, missed whole "not a rookie" rookie year, played 45 games of rookie year.
Fultz before his only heathy season with Orlando, missed basically eveything before and after.
Isaac & Bamba, very skinny, tall players. Other KG i really struggle to remember many skinny long bigs who didn't sustain injuries often. Davis, Porzingis, Noel, Andris Biedriņš, Dragan Bender ( injuried since he left nba )...
Wendell Carter himself is harldy ever healthy..
You can't keep drafting & trading for players with fat medical record than be suprised non of them ever play for you

Re: Poll: prediction for Magic record
I voted 13-19. My initial prediction was 16-20 range, and I think the lower end of that range is more realistic.
Say what you want about Vuc and Fournier, but that was a bucket of points we knew we could get most nights. I'm not sure where this roster goes for scoring.
For example, in the past 15 seasons, the lowest scoring average for a player who led the Magic in scoring was 17.2 ppg (Fournier in 2016-17). Who scores 17.2 on this year's team? Who averages more than 15 ppg? It will take someone making a big jump forward or Suggs having a better than expected rookie year, either of which would be great but we're just hoping at this point.
I also agree with Pepe that the constant injuries to key players make it impossible to be too optimistic. Josh Robbins confirmed Okeke will be out for the opener after missing the entire preseason and all of training camp. He is quietly becoming the next Isaac. This should be his third season in the NBA and he has played a total of 45 games and is unavailable once again. Isaac is still out 14 months after an ACL tear, which is a long time in today's NBA but he *allegedly* didn't have a setback. If he just sits out this season would anyone be shocked? You probably only have three sure starters on this team -- Isaac, Fultz and Okeke -- and they're all injured. It's gonna be rough, fellas.

Did anyone expect Bacon to be the leading starter for last year's "effort"?
Having eight Magicians all scoring from 8-12 ppg will not win a lot of games. Indeed.

Those are some small windows to choose from, lol. Went with the fan average. *shrugs* Unless someone breaks out unexpectedly, and preseason didn't look good for that, i'd say we're in for a pretty rough season, even if Isaac and Fultz somehow get and stay healthy.

Re: Poll: prediction for Magic record
25-57. I think that’s enough to be the worst record in the East, only OKC and Houston will be worse than us.
We’ll have one 10-game losing streak.
The front office being overly cautious with our injured guys indicates we’re trying to tank. With that said, we’re going to pick up some really nice wins this season due to a variety of opponent circumstances.
I’ve got us going 2-5 this month of October. So if we do better than that out of the gate, no complaints from me.

Re: Poll: prediction for Magic record
I voted 23-26. This is the most talented team we have had in a while, but much of that talent is still a long way off from their primes. Still, there are a lot of steady contributors in the rotation. You have to have some awful players in the rotation to be really bad and I'm not sure we have enough of that (yet). We could pretty easily steer this thing into the ground again, but I think that would be a mistake. That could also happen by accident if misfortune favors us again.
The offense is going to be bad, but what else is new? We've been a terrible offensive team since Howard left. We do have the potential to be really good at the defensive end, but that's going to take time as we were running entirely new stuff during the preseason. There are going to be gaps and mistakes as players learn, but it looks like guys are really buying in and we have a roster with a bunch of guys that can fill gaps, which should allow some guys opportunities to freelance a bit.
I think some of the pessimism about our present condition relates to what we were a year ago and the fact that we gutted the core of that team, but we were actively trying to lose games in the back-half of the season and the core pieces we jettisoned just weren't really good. We played three one-point games in the preseason and the team was fired up and fighting. If Mosley can keep the negativity from creeping in and keep this team focused on improving, we are going to pick up some exciting and unexpected wins.
Regardless of how this season plays out, I'm happy. There are a lot of compelling storylines to follow that will keep me tuning in. Suggs, Franz Wagner, Isaac, Bamba, WCJ, Okeke, and Hampton are all players that I'm eager to watch this year. I'm much more pessimistic about our lead guards, but I'm not going to let that ruin the experience. Hopefully one of them proves me wrong and turns into something useful. I think Suggs has the potential to be that, but it will take some time.

21. This would be a terrible offensive team and while on defense we have plenty of players with high potential, most of them are rookies or sophomores so I don't expect the defense to be all that great either. And we'll most likely start tanking pretty early.
