The difference between these two teams is that Atlanta’s front office has drafted well and surrounded Young with talent. The same can’t be said for the Mavs. Atlanta is a better built team from top to bottom.

Before they announced Powell would be the starting center, Kidd went to Luka, KP & THJ and asked them who they preferred. They said Powell. Kidd said that's the direction he was leaning as well.

Coach asking players who they want to play with sounds like a bad joke. And he probably said they have to choose C, because KP will play in 4.

Exactly. If he asked and KP was an option, he would have been the one. Playing 2 centers or 2 pgs will kill us 100% of the time. 22 fgs in 3 quarters is the result. Just get luka out there, 4 shooters, and go.

3 times now that KP has gotten the ball stripped while trying to shoot.

I can't wait for him to prove that he's not just a catch and shoot guy. But if it's more of the same, I hope he finally accepts who he is or leaves the team.

LeBron was the Cavaliers actual head coach for how many seasons?

There's people on this forum who are stuck in the 1980s way of thinking.

Players > Coaches. It's been that way for a LOOOOOOOOONG time now.

You might ask Luka, who is running your offense, but not all starters.
He should better ask Luka, if he wants KP on 4. I doubt it very much.

I LOVE how Josh Green, Frank Ntilikina, and Moses Brown haven't seen the court, yet. 44 minutes into a 48 minute game when trailing by 27 points :noway:

That came straight from Kidd on the Followill & DeMaris podcast. I can only tell you what Kidd said. I can't speak to anything else.

Doncic 40% USG% might not be such a bad idea afterall  KP is still tingus pingus and if role players can't hit their 3's, it's game over. Brunson still going 1v5 most of the time aswell... Nothing changed.

That's my hot take after game 1 :D

It's not the problem that Mavs have lost. Even the big difference is not problematic. But the way they have played is a big problem. Kidd will need to do big adjustments.

I have never liked Brunson much. I hope to God the Mavs don't pay him. But, I can see it now. Brunson paid for being a "good guy" like Dwight Powell, overvalued by the Mavs organization & fanbase, and we're stuck with Brunson on a 5 year $75 mil type of deal. Dear Lord Sweet Baby Jesus NOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Please God NO! Not that!

I don't agree that nothing has changed. Under RC Mavs were always creating open looks. They might have bad shooting nights and were losing big, but today this wasn't about bad shooting night, it was about being totally lost in offense.

Maybe he should have spilled his drink on the floor.

The team wasn't ready. They look like a mess right now.

I hope it's just this game and they find their footing, but it was really tough to watch. Yeah, they played atrocious, but there was also something off about the way they played. It wasn't just them missing shots and I can't quite put my finger on it. There was no flow at all.

Or just go back to preseason. Move the bloody ball and shooters will be open. I dont think mavs shot an open shot all game. Thats when u get 33% from the field and 30% from 3 vs 48% and 43%.

But yeah, embarrasing to see. Atleast now those that wanted players that crowd the paint got what they wanted. Just get everyone but luka out od that paint so he can drive and kick or finish at the rim. Today I dont think he had a chance to attack the rim all game, so fraking packed that area were.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
