Re: Game Thread: Hawks kick off season at Home against Mavericks
One of my favorite parts the game was the very beginning when Dallas and Jason Kidd came out with the brilliant strategy of having Trae's man post him up 3 straight times to start the game. Posters love talking about this and teams love trying this, but in the end of the day all you are doing is asking a player who doesn't have a post game to go down there and become a bucket getter. DFS and THJ could be guarded by a chair and they still aren't going to score enough points in the post to make that a worthwhile strategy.
All they do when they do that is sacrifice better offensive options to try and pigeon hole a square peg into a circle hole. Just like every other team they quickly gave up on it.
SHows that Kidd is a coach who plays checkers, not chess.

That's embarrassingly bad coaching. Like, there's a plethora of ways to take advantage of a small/bad defender. Telling a non-scorer to go post him up is like ... just dumb.
"Hey dynamic scorer, you go sit in the corner and watch my questionable catch-n-shoot guy go to work in the post." - J Kidd
All I can say is, "Thanks, Jason".

Kidd is suspect as a Coach. Dallas should be his last chance as a head coach if he's not successful.shakes0 wrote:One of my favorite parts the game was the very beginning when Dallas and Jason Kidd came out with the brilliant strategy of having Trae's man post him up 3 straight times to start the game. All I kept thinking was - no Luka creating offense - good for Hawks.

Jalen Green scores 30pts for Houston today in a loss to Boston.
Big deal, right? But, he made 8 of 10 3-pointers.
