The loss of Irving is tough. Sad really. A man that decided to pursue a social/personal cause right at the start of our teams championship quest leaving them out to dry. Decided to fight against a mandate. Something our country has been doing for a century since the advent of vaccines with the interest of protecting our people from debilitating and deadly diseases. Such a selfish thing to do. Makes me sick.

Re: Nets @ 76ers | 10.12.2021 @ 7:30 PM on ESPN/YES
The Brooklyn Nets "have taken incoming calls" from rival teams with trade interest on Kyrie Irving, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski's report surfaces in relation to the Philadelphia 76ers' standoff with a trade of Ben Simmons.
"Daryl Morey has called all over the league, talked to teams about star players everywhere to try to find a deal for Ben Simmons," said Wojnarowski. "One team he has not called, I'm told, is the Brooklyn Nets. He has not lobbed a call to Sean Marks about Kyrie Irving.
"Brooklyn, I'm told, has taken incoming calls from teams on Kyrie Irving. They have not themselves made any calls on Kyrie Irving.
Kyrie has had enough time for his research. The team had to fight to the death tonight to win this game while this selfish prick is sitting home.
F*ck Kyrie Irving man.

Btw, we held them to 40 something points in the 2nd half. Let’s give credit where it’s due. We locked them down in the 4th.
I think last year was real, but a lot of what Claxton does well is predicated on effort. So far this season he just hasn't been putting in the same sort of effort. Its just two games so far though, hopefully he gets it going. The fact that Nash is starting is huge and he has to reward Nash by doing what he does best.

Two things with your last part, Effort and figuring out who plays well with who are the two factors. I am confident that the Nets have found somewhat a groove and chemistry should develop.

Re: Nets @ 76ers | 10.12.2021 @ 7:30 PM on ESPN/YES
Great win. Anytime you beat a good team on the road, its big. my thoughts:
1) We need to end the "big" lineup. it is predictably awful. Beyond the fact that you dont win in todays league going big, it really takes away everything that Claxton and Blake do well. Claxton's calling card is his defense. pairing him with Blake forces him to defend the PF, since Blake can only really defend 5s. Which means isntead of being the best "switching" center in the league, your now asking claxton to fight through screens and no longer have him defending smalls on switches (blake is doing that now).
You also turn blake from a solid stretch 5 into a below avg stretch 4. instead of blake pick and pops vs. 5s, he is standing in the corner NOT spacing the floor because the D doesnt respect it. You take away the claxton lob when blakes man can help off the corner. it is just.... bad.
Play one of them at center with KD or Milsap at the 4.
2) Up 3 with under 1 minute left WHY THE FCK IS JOE HARRIS ON THE FLOOR?!?. We had carter, bembry, brown, johnson, claxton on the beech. why are you not going offense for defense there? We had a timeout. if they score you are calling a timeout to advance it to haldcourt and during that timeout you could sub in FT shooters. if they miss, not having good FT shooters doesnt matter because you are up three points anyhow. if you are looking to foul intentionally you can again, sub in FT shooters after the foul. This happened all last year too. we would sub in offense for the last possesion of every quarter, but never do it end of game for defense. you dont want bembry or brown cause they didnt play? fine. but you had plenty of others. This kind of thing can cost games, luckily it didnt tonight. the coaching on this team really needs to start doing the super basic things well.
3) Jevon Carter and Mills turned this game. Their defense late helped get tons of stops. they are both great doubling and then getting back to their man. it frustrated both embiid and drummond. Carters full court defense really helps, as it takes seconds off the shotclock before its even across half court. LMA was big on drummond especially... drummond killed us in the past, LMA can lean on big bodies
4) LMA was great, this was a great matchup for him with 2 traditional bigs on philly. like i said, i dont hate LMA, but he cant be playing huge minutes vs the bucks or most modern teams. in limited backup minutes or if blake is hurt, he is great to have. He hit all his midrange shots. when he doesnt it looks ugly, but when he does it takes the wind out of a defense for sure.
5) 12 turnovers. if we can keep it there we will be good. Last year those killed us.... but one thing thats not a turnover is the shot, fall to the ground, dont get back on defense. that happened a ton last year too. refs need to call some of these, but guys need to get up and get back. We out rebounded them tonight. impressive given our "big" lineup with blake/claxton didnt rebound well at all.
6) this game had ONE lead change. props for grinding. we trailed since 3-0 and finally took them down late.
7) "nets cant stop embiid" "nets defense sucks". 40 points allowed second half. suck on it.
back to back tommorow vs. a really good hornets team. cant overlook that one.

Can't agree with you here. We will need Nic throughout this season. There will be a lot of bumps and bruises along the way though, just want to have LMA, Blake healthy and fresh during post season.
My biggest concern right now is with G and F position. We getting our azz kicked there and it leads to the point our bigs looking vulnerable. In addition our offense not clicking due to chemistry and quality depth issue. Need Patty to step up or we into some huge problem.
We need to buckle up, it'll rough start for some time. Once our coaching stuff figure things out, than we will see full potential and what we missing.

im confident he will be outstanding if/when they play him in his normal role

C'mon guys, we better than that. This azzhat didn't say he will sit out entire season. He will be back sometime after December imo. There is 200+ reasons for that. He talking all that popilistic crap right now, he also knows his time is ticking.

For sure it'll take time. Our coaching stuff pretty much blatant saying it.
Just looking at the Lakers right now you can see chemistry is an issue. It ain't about how you start, its about how you finish. We got 80 games to work with.

I respect the 'big' experiment but we can only do it with Millsap at the 4. Blake/Claxton + a slow backcourt doesn't work. James Johnson doesn't work. Bruce on the bench doesn't work.
I thought the rotations are a LOT better in the 2nd half. No James Johnson. More KD at 4. More Carter/Mills.
This was an ugly grind it out win but I'll take it. I know the coaching staff will eventually figure out rotations like they did last year. Things eventually just work out. We just need to get the offense rolling and figure out how to maximize our bigs.
I'm a little concerned about Harden. He's started slow before so I'm confident he'll pick it up but we need him to be all world. Right now he looks very human. Our Harden led units look very sloppy. Part of it is the roster around him for sure but he also looks rusty and not in great shape.
Props to LMA. Not only was he cooking from midrange but he battled on the boards and bodied up Embiid. That's why he's here. I was hating on him hard the last few days but if he can bring this to the table, it's pretty huge.

Would like to see a better wing rotation... Brown is good for some controlled chaos and energy on defense, I know he generally played the "big" role last year but he can give you some minutes at the wing as well...

Nash said that Brown will be back at some point but right now we're trying to see what others can offer. They know what they have with Bruce Brown.Karate Diop wrote:Would like to see a better wing rotation... Brown is good for some controlled chaos and energy on defense, I know he generally played the "big" role last year but he can give you some minutes at the wing as well...

The big rotation never made sense. Blake is just better as a small ball 5. And having two non shooters in the front court just doesn't work.
KD excels as a 4 in the modern NBA.
I'm fine with starting Carter. But we do need to find minutes for Bruce Brown. So many times we need a punch of energy and he brings it more than anyone else by far.
Overall, great win though.
