All good. I just wanted Holmes then, so I have to make my annual pilgrimage to the shrine of “hey-I-almost-had-a-good-take-years-ago”.and1GS wrote:watch1958 wrote:Richaun Holmes. 21pts, 11 boards, 2 blocks, 2 assists. 9/10 fga, +20.

lol come on man. Looney was last pick in the first and Holmes was 7th in the second - what are we even talking about here? Might as well mention we also missed on Norm Powell and Montrezl Harrel, both second rounders as well. The previous year, a pick we traded for Andre netted Utah Rodney Hood - and Nikola Jokic went in the late second. We could've had Jokic!!!
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

There's a way to do that that's infinitely more threatening. Rondo was pointing at him first, then the fan touched him (instant ejection), and Rondo absolutely made the gun motion. But I think trying to make it more than it is... sucks. I've seen players do that to someone who they just rejected or made a shot over. It wasn't a threat, its more like a "you've been got"
And for Rondo to single him out, he was probably being a douche all night. 100% on Rondo's side here

Dwight Howard is 10 ply but has the ego of someone who's much, much better at basketball

You mean because he's almost certainly available now that he and AD have engaged in fisticuffs?

It's okay if we don't agree on this but Rondo was playing the "stick 'em up, bang you're dead" game with this guy right in his face before the guy slapped his hand away and then did it again after. Sure, you're not supposed to touch the players under any circumstances but Rondo had his finger pistol inches from the guy's face and it would have taken exceptional discipline for the guy not to react in some way. Objectively, his response was pretty tame.

It really wasn't. Unless Rondo just randomly went up to the guy, he's been at minimum chirping at the Lakers all night. Its a simple rule: don't touch the players. There is no justifying it. If everyone wants to grab their junk and talk about how they wouldn't let that stand, good, get thrown out too.
Guy might not be allowed back in the building ever again. And good riddance, because again, don't touch the players

How close can Rondo stick his finger in a fan's face before it's too close and he's crossed the line?

Lol give me a break. Rondo is a grade A ****. This is the same guy who spit on CP and called BIll Kennedy a f*****. Rondo goes up to a player and sticks a gun 2 inches from their face he's justifiably getting his head knocked out - but he does it to a fan who bats it away and suddenly you're on his side.
Your player worship takes are truly bizarre.

It's player worship to say don't touch the players. Ok sure. Self control is hard!

It's a fair point that Rondo sticking his fingers in the guy's face was the primary escalation in the confrontation. Trash talk happens all the time, it doesn't require players or fans to invade each other's personal space in any way. The departure from typical behavior, barring us knowing what was said prior, was Rondo sticking his fingers in the guy's face. We should all be able to agree with that. The fan then slapping Rondo's hand was a further escalation but Rondo shouldn't have approached the fan and that was the first behavior that violated the boundaries of acceptable behavior. Again, barring us knowing what was said prior.

Rondo wasn't even looking at him. He was telling the security guard what was going on. Maybe he knew what he was doing, maybe not. But if the fan does the smart thing, maybe puts his arms out to the side and show he's not doing anything, he gets to stay, and maybe more. But no, he didn't do that. He had to act stupidly, and he got ejected for it, and probably more.
And that's not to say Rondo didnt do anything to quell the situation, but it doesnt excuse the fan doing something really stupid. He's got, and will get, what he deserved. Rondo won't have anything done to him. And some will learn the lesson, and some won't. Is what it is

Players and fans are allowed to touch without a fan getting ejected. It's not some automatic thing. It just has to be mutual and "acceptable". I've seen a lot of fan/player contact over the years.
In this case it seems clear Rondo was getting the guy ejected BEFORE there was any contact.

Obviously have to use some context. Like when you say making contact with a player, it has to be intentional and unwelcome. Almost not worth saying it, unless maybe it is? I dunno, this whole situation has created some really crazy takes
And yes, Rondo was telling security on him already. That happens a bit more than most seem to think, and most times it doesnt result in an ejection, it results in security having some words with him, basically like a 'last chance' kinda thing unless they already had that talk. Security is in no rush to throw out someone who paid big coin to sit on the baseline either

In your bizzarro world a dude pointing a finger 2 inches from some dudes face deliberately is completely normal behaviour. You must be fun to sit next to on a plane
