None of those fraudulent jokers came off the bench like hero.

wow he might be a number 1 option off the bench given that bam/butler/lowry all suck at shooting outside/scoring.
top 20 scorer at age 21 impressive stuff.

The "salt" is a chuckle that anyone would bump this thread with a tweet that so obviously avoids the negatives.
I don't think he's trash. I don't think I care about him one way or the other. But it's disingenuous to be like "he dropped 30-10" without pointing out the amount of shots and time it took him to get there.

I mean, I’d be very pleased if there was a 21-year-old late lottery pick on my team who could go off for 30 points off the bench on any given night. Any basketball fan would. As it stands, my team’s #4 overall pick is starting but looks like he doesn’t even deserve minutes…all the higher picks than Herro my team has drafted look like considerably worse players. I would be very happy as a Miami fan. No need to hate, this guy looks like the real deal

He had 30/10 before the end of regulation. He was hitting clutch shot after clutch shot in the 4th until they decided to run offense around Jimmy in OT. He was the only player who really showed out tonight, and the Pacers were trapping and double teaming him as a result. He made some nice passes to open teammates that missed. He was literally a one man show all game.

Tyler Herro has a good chance of being the leading scorer of a top 10 NBA team this season. I still want him to get to the free throw line more often though.

Re: How will Tyler Herro fare this upcoming season?
I don't really care about the 28 shots, he missed from deep but had a good couple at the rim that should have been called fouls and you're looking at 13/25 for 34 pts. Those are the breaks of a young scorer. The passes were there also, some were straight up misses and some lead to free throws, either way you don't get assists. The talent is obvious.

I'm not gonna get ahead of myself with his season averages after 2 games lol, but it says something about the expectations for this guy at age 21 when he's getting besmirched by posters in here after a 30/10 game

Here is one thing a lot of casual fans don't understand. Lots of guards can score in this league if given the possessions. Guard scoring is probably the single least valuable thing in the NBA because so many guys can do it. There are 50 guards not in the NBA right now who if you gave them 20 mpg against mostly 2nd units could give you double figures. They would suck defensively and be negative players, but they could score.
I'm not saying Herro is a bad player, but him scoring 30 points on 30 shots says nothing about him being good. Jamal Crawford could walk in right now and do that in his sleep.

Herro for the season is at +3.3 rTS thus far, meaning his scoring efficiency is 3.3% above league average. So, he isn't an inefficient scorer as you're probably alluding to. Not to mention he is creating nearly all of his offense. Only 22.7% of his makes are assisted. His offensive BPM (per b-ref) is at 5.6. All of these numbers indicate is an efficient scorer. He is 21 years old and in his 3rd season, so projecting his career to look like Jamal Crawford is a bit premature.

Re: How will Tyler Herro fare this upcoming season?
I found this sorta interesting...
James Harden at age 22 coming off the bench at OKC in his 2011-12 season stat line:
31.4 min | 17/4/4 | 21.1 PER | .230 WS/48 | 4.3 BPM
Tyler Herro at age 21/22 coming off the bench at Miami currently in 2021-22 stat line:
32.7 min | 29/8/3 | 23.5 PER | .229 WS/48 | 6.7 BPM
If Herro can sustain those numbers for an entire season is another question, but given he is the player on the Heat with the most varied skillset and shot creation while not afraid of big moments, I can see Miami continuing to run a lot of the offense through him.

Crawford had a hell of a career fwiw. That's not an insult. But I'm not remotely suggesting his game and Crawford's are the same. Or that he's not a talented young player. He is.
My response was that scoring a bunch of points on a bunch of shots doesn't tell us he's good. Which is what that thread of the conversation was about. Nothing more nothing less. I hope Herro has a great career. Citing last night as proof he's good just isn't it.
If that same line was had by Beal or Curry or Dame we'd cite them as the reason their team lost. We need to do the same with Herro here. No, he's not as vital to his team in general, but on a night when you choose to take 30 shots, you bear some responsibility.

it seems you didnt even follow this game.
herro was the star last night and essentially cooled off.
Blah blah 30 shots but he also had 10 rebs for those who try to discredit objective results.
he scored 27 points the game before so there is precedent that he his scoring really well.
give him his flowers right now, he deserves it.
Right now he is 9th in the league in scoring average and plays the least minutes among them.
just chill with the devil advocate , he is looking the heats best player almost , it deserves attention,

You are missing the point in your haste to be his defense attorney. I have said nothing about him being a bad player.
I simply said 30 points on 30 shots does not make you a good player. Full stop.
Lots of guards can score 30 points on 30 shots. That's not impressive. This is the point I was disputing--a poster stating that specific game made him great. It didn't.
He's talented. He's confident. He played really well 2 years ago in the playoffs. He's off to a solid start. Okay. Have I said enough good things to allow me to make the valid point that just saying he scored 30 pints doesn't mean he had a great game or is a great player?
Let me know. I don't want to offend, But I do want to deal in reality. Good players do have subpar games even when they stuff the statsheet. How many times has Russell Westbrook done 30/10/10 and people recognized it didn't mean he was actually helping his team win that night? Why is Herro exempt? He isn't.
Cheers.

Your point is taken but in this case he did have a good game . Sure I get the shot attempts aren’t impressive.
The pushback is coming from that people do feel he had a great game . It’s agreed a career is not made off of 1 game but I think besides the shot attempts I don’t think there is much evidence that he isn’t playing really well.
