It's not the bricks--although they hurt--it's the lack of positive impact across the board. Look, I'm not sold on T-Mann as anything but a nice rotation piece, but he consistently finds a way to contribute and help you win EVERY NIGHT. He doesn't have nights when he vanishes.
I just can't say that about Senior, from the day he got here. He vanishes all the time. Even when he has a good game numbers-wise, it never seems to be the difference between winning and losing. He never seems to hit the key shot or get the key steal, block, or rebound. The drive to the hoop in the last minute to get free throws. The dagger three.
Marcus is not the worst trade [Moe Harkless and a garbage first-rounder] or the worst FA re-signing in Clipper history but add them together and it's close. Because we took on Bledsoe's expiring $18M to dump Beverley's $14M and Rondo's $7M, Marcus is only our 4TH-highest paid player @ ~$16M/yr FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS.
Frankly, it would cost us a FRP and accepting somebody else's albatross to GIVE him away. The org has no choice but to play him and hope he either contributes or increases his trade value. At the moment both are LESS than zero.
[Thx, brother playaloc for getting me STARTED.
