The thing with RJ is that he's not gonna get as many touches this season that he did last year. He was able to find his offense through that in a lot of games. But this year, he's gonna have to get it going right away or find himself struggling even more.

Same goes for Quickley. They need to make the most of their touches.

Randle is greatly improved but he still reverts to hero ball a lot when facing adversity. His instinct when things go south is to resort to forcing things. He needs to stick to the plan and stop reverting. RJ does this as well. So does Burks and IQ.

Rose is on the other end of the spectrum where he could have been even more aggressive tonight. He turned down some great shots for mere good shots.

this was a bad loss but i want to see us against the better teams. last year's knicks could rely on defense to stay in most games. now we're more dependent on offense and that goes cold like it did tonight. we're not the same defensive team. too many bad individual defenders.

The notion that our defense was magically gonna remain the same while our offense skyrockets (after swapping Voldermort and Bullock for Kemba and Fournier, two horrible defenders) was always mysterious to me

outside of the center position, who can actually even play defense ? randle might be the next best defender. him or rj. after that is anyone even average on the whole rest of the team ?

Nerlens is still on the team and was statistically a top 2 defensive player in the NBA last year, no wonder we give up 110 points to teams like orlando with him out

I’ve been defending Kemba, but he really needs to up his play. Going -14 in 19 minutes is very bad. His defense especially off ball has been horrible. We would of been up double digits going into the half, but Kemba slacked and the Magic hit multiple 3s.

He has played better team defense in Boston’s system so I know he is capable. But his effort compared to the rest of the team is noticeable and unacceptable

I'm not a fan of using +/- numbers for analysis (obviously they are great for abusing other posters), and I'm giving Kemba some time to get settled in since replacing Elf is a tough ask - who the **** knows what one should do - whereas Fournier should just be Bullock with added gallic flair, but you are 100% right this hasn't been a good start, on offence and, particularly, on defence.

Playing the same team twice in a row is a trap and BS. You're usually gonna lose one of the games regardless of how bad that team is they're still an Nba team

It's really incredible that our entire season hinges on the reconstructed knees of Rose. If he misses any time we're going to lose a lot, especially now that the East is the stronger conference. We need to give Grimes some minutes to see what he looks like, or we need to find a trade for a wing that can defend.

yeah that still concerns me. Rose was our best player in the playoffs. Julius/RJ still go through shooting slumps.

Rose still is our best bucket getter when our offense gets stagnant.

Need a #1 option badly.

Orlando deserved that win. Their rookies played pretty well, which matters most to them I guess.

The Knicks will need to pull the plug on the Kemba experiment soon. F the PR hit. Do the right thing and get a real starting PG in here. Kemba is washed and hurts everyone around him - it's crystal-clear watching the games and looking at the stats.

Regardless, our starting 5 just isn't good enough. It needs a complete makeover.

We need a big trade.

Kemba and RJ are the new polarizing two.

RJ is definitely polarizing.

He's an average player right now, which is disappointing but not the end of the world.

I think that some of the criticism (mainly about his lack of shot creation) is interesting because it may or may not say something about his real upside, and therefore how indispensable he is to the team's future.

I love RJ and what he symbolizes, but I'm not mad at melo and sham, because they make valid points. It's just a tough conversation to accept for a lot of us I guess, but I think it's a good conversation to have.

My problem with Randle and RJ is not with them individually but with them together. I don't think you can contend in the NBA with two players this inefficient in your starting line-up. Maybe one. But definitely not two.

I think Knicks fans will pretty much find consensus about Kemba in the coming weeks.

This is on RJ. He's has one solid half in 3 games and took the last game in Orlando completely off. It was his turn to step up especially back home in his building but no he is nowhere to be found.
