Re: The race for the east
IMO, the class of the east is Milwaukee.
Everyone else has warts. The Nets are old and rather thin. With the new foul rules, Harden has been really neutered and Kyrie might be gone.
Outside of that, I think Miami, Philly, Atlanta, New York, the Brooklyn team and yes Chicago can finish anywhere from 2 to 7.

Haven't watched the Nets yet, but it wouldn't surprise me, he was completely out of shape last year. He's getting to a point where maintaining that elite level of fitness is a constant effort and he clearly wasn't up to that last year.

Brooklyn's fate changes considerably if Irving decides to get vaccinated.

I was about to say these new rules have taken a lot of the cheap fouls away from harden and doesn’t seem to get the calls Zach wasn’t getting either last game at the rim with contact I think this is really good for the league especially since Zack is a monster athlete that can live without them .......also noticed nets do the same thing as us where they bench one of harden or Durant while the other runs the team then swaps in the fresh one putting constant pressure on team’s defensive units

Yeah, will be interesting to see if we ever see the version of the Nets that lives up to their potential. It's a team that has enough talent, but they have plenty working against it all going well. Beyond Irving's vaccination status is the fact that all three of their big three are pretty injury prone at this point of their careers.
Harden hasn't had injuries hit much except last year, but he's older and clearly lost an edge to his fitness. Durant had an achilles and despite having a healthy last season, at his age and with that kind of injury in his past will likely always be at risk. Kyrie has had injuries his whole career long and has always been a high injury risk player.
I've got no love for Brooklyn's big three. I find them a relatively unlikeable bunch after KD repeatedly metaphorically gives the finger to fans/media about how he doesn't care about them, Harden forced his way out of Houston by being a total douche, and Kyrie's anti-vax / flat-earth only quasi-cares about the NBA at all attitude is off-putting. That said, it has potential to be one of the greatest collections of talent ever, and it's sort of a shame to not see it all come together.

Yea agree with everything here also the Aldridge add and griffin as a piece on the 5 will make them virtually unbeatable if Irving comes back ......without Irving the bulls would have to find a real 4 and stick Williams on Durant since he’s the only one who can have the length to someone contest his shots and lonzo on harden ....I think Lavine would torch them though but idk if it’s enough against them even without Irving but I think we are right there with them in a Series all healthy
Nets definitely the new eastern villains taking over for lebrons villain status

Re: The race for the east
In the playoffs without Irving the nets will need Durant to play huge minutes and wear him down to beat teams with depth like the bulls and in our case I think after watching them they might not have enough to weather the storm ac green and lonzo would bring against there bench

I don't predict it will last long, and it is a function of the schedule, but I hadn't considered the idea that we may be alone atop the NBA with the best record at any point this season.
Well, we're 6-1 now!

But the Heat, Warriors, and Jazz haven't played their 7th game yet. The Heat and Jazz get relatively tough matchups tomorrow, and by the time GSW takes the court Wednesday we'll have already played our 8th game.

Once Coby comes back, If we still have a good record, I wonder if they still question our depth. We have bodies, but we don’t have much in terms of recognizable names. Maybe that works in our favor.

Yeah, I already lost that No-Nut November challenge lol.
Would be great for Bulls to get some more of these conference wins before that west coast trip.

Re: The race for the east
I think the Nets, Bucks, and Heat are a cut above us (if they stay healthy).
But we're in that next group with the Hawks/76ers/Knicks.
