Exactly the kind of Melo possession we should not be seeing. :banghead:

A 'Melo iso is really not what was called for in that situation. Come on, LeBron

You pretty much never see players make all 3 free throws in that situation.

AD and James with 3 and D would have been good enough to contend. Westbrook is going to have to play off the bench as this is untenable. Lakers somehow pulled it off even though the Grizzlies took 100 shots (16 more than the Lakers).

That weird lineup with Melo at the center has actually worked lol.

Going to be a long season with James having ugly messed up stats even though it’s pretty clear he can put up good numbers. Also, he may wind up with around 250 FTs if that this this year.

Ugly game from LeBron but good to get the first win of the season. They have a lot of work to do but there were some things to like.

Seriously. Just take the team from last year, maybe pull off the Hield trade, and sign some of the same minimum guys, and I like their chances a lot better.

LeBron has to play like a damn spot up shooter to accommodate Westbrook and DJ. It neuters his impact and is incredibly boring to watch

Good win and the offense looks promising but they gave up 118 to a team that struggled with its offense for 2 quarters. I thought it should have been a blowout in the first half but they were only up 3. Barring a shift in their current trajectory they are well on their way to having a bottom ranked defense. Will probably also continue to matchup poorly against certain teams.

Melo isn’t good at anything other than shooting that three which is what he should do. He shot 42/40/42 % on wide-open, open, and contested threes last year. That stroke looks incredibly pure and really always as been.

I lowkey didn't find the result impressive. Yes the offense is on a different level from last year but the weaknesses play perfectly into the strengths of the other playoff teams. They can gain chemistry and even win 50+ games but it still doesn't look like a winning formula. It's not net positive basketball. That game is a blowout in the first half if they were even capable of league average defense. The Grizzlies looked really bad on offense for the first 20 minutes, they shouldn't even have been close with how long it took to find their offense.
