Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
Truth is, the only *practical* trade for Simmons would have to include Beal -- which we're not exactly likely to do.
Now, if we were willing to send out Brad, we could improve the trade substantially for us by including Anthony Gill & Aaron Holiday -- & taking back Tyrese Maxey & Jaden Springer.
Or, also add Harrell while Philly would add Seth Curry.

It doesn't get it done because it's not what Philly needs, even if it is the most they can get talentwise. What in the world are they going to do with three more big men? They need a difference-maker on the perimeter.
Again, they need to get out of a messy situation that they have horribly mishandled. Avdija is not a big, he’s a wing player that was drafted 9th overall last year and is still on a rookie contract. That’s a good pickup for Philly. They will have to replace Simmons’ production.
It’s ridiculous to suggest trading Dinwiddie or Beal. That will never happen. Why the hell would the wizards do that?

If you think the Wizards are on the losing end of a Dinwiddie for Simmons trade, fine, I won't argue. (It all depends on how one values Simmons, and that's going to vary a great deal.)
But I'm saying there is no chance that Philly does that trade. They can surely find equivalent value in the form of players that actually fill their needs.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
Nat -- once again -- your proposal sends out $27.6m in salary & brings back $33m. You're aware of that, right?
That extra $5.4m puts us in the luxury tax, right?
Sending 3 guys for 1 guy means that we need to add 2 more players. Which takes us even further into lux tax territory. You thought of that, correct?
We want to extend Brad -- adding @ another $10m to our tax bill -- you have a way for all this to work, presumably?
Would you very kindly explain?

Add Aaron Holiday and Caleb Homesley. Fill out the back end of the roster with g league guys. I’m not a salary cap guy, never claimed to be, but can’t they simply shed cap space in another trade before the deadline? It’s fairly easy to fill out the roster with nobodies, no?

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
Homesley isn't on the team & hasn't been for many months. Adding more players from our end makes the problem worse not better. & anyway, Philly already has a full roster; they can't subtract one guy (Simmons) & add three guys.
This is not about being "a salary cap guy," Nat. It's about arithmetic!

The Wizards would say no to Simmons for Dinwiddie?

I guess any chance of the Wiz acquiring my target - Miles Bridges - will soon be gone - as he was named Player of the Week in week 1. Probably all my fault since I never gave a good offer for him.

I think it's safe to say we can trade Beal. We will be stuck in mediocrity paying this guy supermax.

I don't think he was ever an option. Charlotte would be insane to do anything but keep and re-sign him.

Yeh I don't get why Beal seems so different. He's got a Bigg offer on the table, a good HC, basically everything he wants, a good team that's winning ball games. Like?

Well, when I suggested trading for him before - both here and in the trade forum - NOBODY said that. The closest was Pif - who agreed he was very good. And there was even a thread in the trade forum asking what people would offer for him - and nobody gave a particularly good offfer for him that I noticed - partly because of his upcoming free agency. It's very easy to say what you said after the guy starts off blazing hot.

I agreed he was very good -- & I also thought he'd be a terrific trade target (b/c he's very good! duh!).
I just didn't think they'd want to trade him. Or, to put it slightly differently, that we had an offer for them that would be attractive.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
Looking at the Minnesota Timberwolves there's no way to get Anthony Edwards now.
Phoenix has three losses so that's one team that might become desperate. There's no way to get Booker and Beal doesn't fit on that team.
Cole Anthony is starting to put up some sick numbers. Orlando has some pieces and we made trades with him in the past.

Can we get Sabonis instead of Turner? Turner had a great game against Washington but has disappeared in their other 4 games.

Plus they should provide further incentives, Duarte at the minimum.
