Andrew Wiggins - Odd Man Out?
Not sure if it's just a slow start with getting into game shape or mulling around in regret after giving into getting vaccinated, but his body language and his subpar playing the last 3 games is telling of something just ain't right (Hopefully, he improves).
Do you guys think he'll be subject to trade talks at any point? Hopefully not for Ben Simmons, as Bogues recently spoke about him on his podcast that his character has been in question in the Australian league. Otherwise, wouldn't know who'd realistically be attainable within a WIggins trade.

At this point I doubt he's being actively shopped but I also doubt he'll be with the team next year when he becomes an expiring contract.

We know he isn't in game shape yet as Kerr has already stated that after his pre-season injuries. Seems very unreasonable to even entertain this idea when we know that he isn't in game shape yet. Why don't we actually give it a few weeks (or months since Myers has already stated he wants to see what Wiggins and Klay look like together) and then try to make a reasonable evaluation. I know when I was lacking conditioning my body language was vastly different than when I felt energized and confident.

I think he's dealing with a lingering knee issue.

Normally he would just dunk it but we see more layups recently.

Re: Andrew Wiggins - Odd Man Out?
He and Dray are on minute restrictions because neither were healthy at the start of the season. He's even worse than Dray, because Dray is almost at his usual minutes while Wiggins still only played 31MPG last night. I just don't see the point of acting now. He's the best on ball defender on the team if we use last season as an example, and I imagine we see that soon enough. That will also help Klay when he's back in terms of putting pressure in terms of who he needs to defend.
And anyone who thinks he was poor last match wasn't watching the game. He closed the game.

Re: Andrew Wiggins - Odd Man Out?
Wiggins isn't going anywhere. He's absolutely needed and trading him would be difficult as we would need someone like him in return. Just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Re: Andrew Wiggins - Odd Man Out?
Wiggins led the team with a +18 and hit a clutch 3 to keep the Kings at distance late in the game. I think he hit a clutch 3 down the stretch against the Lakers as well (off a Beli kick out?).
He's frustrating at times, but I think he's an important cog for any successful Warriors' run in the next two years, particularly with Iggy's age, Kuminga's rawness, DLee's lack of size, Klay's uncertainty, and Otto's one year contract.

Wiggins has been fine.. no Warrior has been consistently good so far this year. Singling him out is kinda indicative of a preference IMO

Absolutely. Maybe I'm just thinking about the long-term, sustainable success because we do have younger pieces like Wiseman, Kuminga, and Moody to think about in the next 2-3 years and they'll want near max contracts (If they've shown they've earned it). So, just thinking about some wiggle room in terms of being able to offer a reasonable contract for these young ballers without hurting our cap space.
I was looking at Orlando, and they are backlogged at the PG position with Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony, and now Jalen Suggs.

Re: Andrew Wiggins - Odd Man Out?
I think we just played the best trade partner for a mid-season deal involving Wiggins...
Wiggins for Barnes and Tristan Thompson works on many levels. Barnes knows our system and would only cost $18 million next year. Lacob would save a ton in luxury tax. Thompson is an additional big on an expiring deal.
Would Sacramento go for it though?

As long as he shows up when it matters like he’s been doing then torture basketball is okay. It’s if what Barnes did, played well for a couple of quarters then crap the bed, then we got problems.
Simmons is another bed wetter.

Wiggins looks just about how Wiggins always looks. As long as he shoots the 3 ball like last year (or better) and stays engaged on defense, thats as much as we can ask for. The points will probably go down some this year due to Poole/Klay, but thats fine.

Re: Andrew Wiggins - Odd Man Out?
I had the same thought after LAL, so paid close attention to him the past two games. He's actually looked totally fine. Putting in the effort on defense, hitting all his rotations, same eFG% as last year and better from the line and 3. He was the spear of our 3-2 zone for most of last night's game, which is interesting given he's a 3 and that's generally where the 1 sets up.
The areas I've seen him be the worst at so far I'd chalk up to poor conditioning. He's a bit slow to fight over perimeter screens, his drive/finish game has been poor and he isn't generating turnovers. All of that requires a lot of movement and he's frankly not there yet physically. That said, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that Jordan is swiping 2+ shots a game from him. We know what Andrew is not--a primary or secondary scorer--so let's put him in the true Harrison Barnes role as an ancillary scorer who gives you plus effort and production across the board.

Re: Andrew Wiggins - Odd Man Out?
I've seen the 'body language is bad' talk on twitter about Wiggins. I think he's doing fine. He's avg 15ppg and I think that's his minimum for this team to be successful esp if Poole is getting 17 and Play will be right around there I hope.
Wiggins ability to hit threes, slash, and switch defensively is much needed.

Is Wiggins still a negative trade asset? That is, would the Warriors have to give up something good, like a first round pick, to get another team to absorb Wiggins' salary?

I swap for Barnes and a future 1st in a heartbeat.
Barnes has flaws too, but he looks like he cares.

Unless we get a clear upgrade and not have to give up too many assets..I like him on the team. We all know he's going to do frustrating things but overall he is helping the team more than he hurts them. Upgrading from him will not come cheap also.

He is a salary filler to upgrade the position, but he is also our best SF at the moment. Since he becomes an expiring next year, its pointless to include an asset just to dump his salary, especially without a clear cut replacement in mind.

Not trying to dump him, just wondering what his value is around the League.
