Pure speculation on my part but I reckon he will play for Sixers again
The whole situation was complete lunacy and there’s a chance that cooler heads prevail as time marches on

I'm going to guess outright paying him.
Her wording was pretty specific. They are not fining against the money in escrow, almost guaranteed. He's paid quarterly IIRC so I really doubt they would give up that leverage so easily.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Depends on whether contract was amended as he was due 25% on October 1
If he’s not being fined then he MIGHT legally be entitled to balance

Best time to trade for him is at the deadline . Teams got see what they need to get better and to become contender I’m cofindent he gets traded by January 15 where all restrictions for trading new players etc are gone

Sounds like the terrible scouting reports about Ben Simmons' defense come out.
Men lie, women lie, deflection stats don't. Fox is a defensive stud.

His stats say otherwise
He might have potential on that end but he’s so far removed from being a stud atm that it’s not funny

Are deflection stats really a big defensive indicator? I don't see that as being even close to an effective barometer for on-ball defense which is what you'd need from Fox in your starting lineup. That doesn't mean he's not great for the 76ers in other ways... But Fox is a pretty.bad defender Everytime I've watched him on the court.

I was curious when they would have to turn that money back to Ben. The answer doesn’t seem obvious since he will be paid on a schedule that doesn’t match his contractual language. There must be some agreed to method in the CBA or an arbitration precedent. Doubt Ben is too worried a long as he gets it tho.

Fox began by saying that when he was in fourth or fifth grade, he used to get a lot of on-ball steals (shocking, right?): "One of my friend's dad just started calling me Swipa—you know, Swiper the Fox from Dora," Fox continued. "It just kind of stuck. And I liked it, everybody likes the tag, so I just ran with it. And Swiper is probably trademarked, so I can't use that. ... Swipa's good for me."
Both are correct. He was very good defensively at UK. It could be, perhaps, that he's asked to score 25 ppg on an atrocious team who doesn't play defense that hurts his defensive rank.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
Is this another plus minus thing?
Because Fox is a 2%+ steal, 1%+ block guy. Consistently one of the better defenders at the PG position across the league each year.

I think he should get on the court as soon as he is ready. Play for two months in good faith. In mid-January, if he still wants to be traded, start the injury complaints. Let’s Morey know to trade him by deadline or don’t count on him playing very much down the stretch.
I don’t think Ben has the skillset to be a point guard on a team built to win in the playoffs, so it would prob be in the Sixers best interest to move him as well.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
How long does someone get to call out of work for personal issues without providing proof of a medically diagnosed issue to their employer?
When it does come to that how do you think its going to impact the other team's desires to trade for him with a mental health issue?

Yeah, we can't know for sure. There is a payment schedule that usually details the ins and outs of a contract but they usually don't contemplate if an escrow hold constitutes payment. Throw in the antitrust stuff and we have no **** idea. Since we haven't heard either side say something crazy since the Nets game, I'm going to guess they have some mutual agreement to fines and perhaps Ben is entitled to some non-$8 million figure while this goes on behind doors.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
I thought I read they did make an appointment with a psych doctor or something. I'll see if I can find something, but either way I'm sure the team will be closely monitoring it. Obviously one of their top priorities is getting this straightened out.emptygator wrote:How long does someone get to call out of work for personal issues without providing proof of a medically diagnosed issue to their employer?

It's hard to tell what people will trade for. Might be a big deal to some. Teams definitely get desperate though and make risky moves. Some work well like Paul to the Suns. Other times you get Bynum'd. I personally think it's a bigger deal that teams know they have leverage on us by him not willing to play for us.
Edit: Found the link where they had him meet with the medical staff and will continue to meet with medical staff for his situation-

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
Given that this all started as a trade demand and not addressing any sort of mental health issue, I think any team that trades for him will be given assurances by Simmons/Klutch that he'll play from day 1 and continue to get treatment if necessary. I don't think it affects his trade value at all.
I'm pretty confident that the only team he's not "mentally ready" to play for today is the 76ers.

Yea.... idk man Fox get gorilla glued to screens all the time when I watch. Maybe he still plays passing lanes well when off-ball, but he just dies at the point of attack.

Yeah he seems like a guy that would buy in on the right team.
