Harden with another pube game
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Teams with hot starts
Minny- might make the play in but I feel the start is a fluke.

Bulls- think they’re a good team but not top of the east good. Start a little fluky from playing bad teams

Hornets- real deal, I think they will be the 5th or 6th seed.

Better quality.

It’s early, but that Michael Porter, Jr contract may soon be a topic on their message boards.

Cavs going to win in Denver. Lots of craziness early in the season

Good for him. Those shots were against some of the tightest perimeter D I've seen!

Giddey is going to better than Simmons in year two. The Boomers finally have the lead guy to play off. Patty still gets all the buckets in this scenario.

He's such a great guy for a young team. I saw it with the suns a couple years ago. He brings a calming presence and controls the pace of the game. Now of course the shooting issue limits the upside for a playoff type team but for a team like Cleveland thats trying to get better and develop young guys he's great. He's kind of the ultimate floor raiser/ceiling lower type player.

Not sure why it didn't work out better in MN last year. I guess injuries and that roster/organization is/was kind of a mess.

We're on like 5 straight years of Rubio's former teams immediately getting better when he leaves/is replaced. Sure, outside circumstances come into play a bit (replacing him with a GOAT floor general like Paul is one thing), but it's enough of a trend at this point. He's just never been this super awesome impact guy that people thought he was gonna be early in his career. He'd be an awesome PG in the 80's and 90's though.

It's still crazy to me that Denver maxxed him early while Phoenix balked at maxxing Ayton. I can see not maxxing either, but I would have made Porter Jr. prove it again and stay healthy. Plus Porter JR. is **** bananas as a person.

Was tempted to post this, but you beat me to it. We're now 12 years past Rubio's draft class, and he'll tease you with these moments or stretches, but in the end, he never seems to move the needle.

It is fun though to do the deep dive on the 2009 draft class where we got Jennings. Blake, Steph, Harden, DeRozan and Jrue all still rolling. Then you have guys who for a brief period looked like the might be something but completed washed out like Jennings, Ty Lawson, Tyreke. Then you've got Jeff Teague, who made an all-star team.

Then you've got guy who were contributors like Tyler Hansborough, Chase Budinger, Darren Collison.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2009.html

It really was a loaded, loaded draft with stars and contributors.

Seems like bad luck/GMs pushing their chips in right after he leaves than anything else.

Minnesota: Jimmy Butler
Utah: Mike Conley (also, they improved from a 61.0% win percentage to 61.1%)
Phoenix: CP3
Minnesota Pt. 2: TBD, but 3 of their 4 top scorers last season only played in half their games and it wouldn't shock anyone if Edwards blew up this season.

Those teams also all got better the year they added him (with the exception of Utah, who went from 51 wins to 48). Minnesota nearly doubled their win % his first season with the team. Phoenix did double theirs. And Minnesota slightly improved last season.

I agree that Rubio isn't as impactful as All-NBA/fringe all-stars but he's pretty proven at this point to be a positive contributor. You can obviously do a lot better at the PG position than him though.

This^ definitely some circumstances on why his teams got better.

As I was saying in my other post there's absolutely a cieling with him especially in the playoffs where an opponent can really exploit his shooting weakness. But if your a bad/young team who needs an adult to help other grow he's a good guy to have.

I didn't realize Rubio was such a polarizing player on here. He's been great on the Cavs so far since none of their other guards know how to run an offense.

We spent a decade on here with people debating whether we needed to make a push to acquire Rubio. It is just interesting how he moves to all these teams, and can never find a permanent home.
