39% and 40% on volume (7+ attempts per-36) with that kind of consistency the last two years is basically an elite shooter. And I'd just as soon throw out the numbers last year anyways, unless you really think that Bobby and Forbes were/are 47% and 45% guys respectively.

Word choice aside, I'll just say that nobody should be worried about Grayson Allen's shooting.

Grayson struggled as a rookie then shot 40% from three on relatively high volume his two years with Memphis. It would be very surprising if he didn't shoot 40%+ with the Bucks considering the amount of open looks he'll get.
Klay Thompson is one of the greatest shooters of all time and started the 2018 season shooting 14% from three after 7 games. People shouldn't look too much into shooting percentages in a handful of games at the beginning of the season.

Plus his shot is absolutely beautiful. I’m more confident in his numbers going up than someone with a line drive shot.

Couldn't be less worried about Grayson's shooting struggles right now. Just needs to adjust timing. During his post-game interviews he's said he has to adjust to having the wide-open looks as his shot feels like it's taking a bit longer than usual, not having a defender in his face. I have faith he'll figure it out before December.

Yes, Portis and Forbes are better shooters, but I certainly wouldn't want Forbes over Allen for a bunch of other reasons.
If Allen shoots 40% this year on threes, that would be fantastic, but it wouldn't be elite, since 65 other players did the same thing. If Donte was healthy, it would be a close call for me, since DDV is so much better defensively.
What puzzles me is that DDV seems to be valued by the league much more than Allen, with guys like Hollinger and others pegging Donte as a $25 million per year player.

Love Bobby, but no. He's a strict "catch & shoot only when the defense sags way off" kind of guy. Logically filtering out the low volume and low minutes players, you get a list of like, 10-12 dudes who shot better than Grayson on more than 7 attempts per-36 over the last two seasons. And it's guys like Steph, Buddy Hield, Duncan Robinson, Davis Bertans, and Joe Harris.

Fair point on Portis, but there are a lot more than 10-12 better shooters than Allen in the league. Just looking at the list shows a number of them, including good players like both Bogdanovics, Duncan Robinson, Danny Green, Gallinari, and Mike Conley and not so great overall players like Wayne Ellington, Reggie Bullock, and Lou Williams.
Allen may get there, especially with a team like the Bucks. Let's wait and see.

Has there been any DDV update? Feel like no one ever talks about when he will return. I'm starting to get nervous

Odd situation with Thad Young in SA. He's coming off a very good season, but SA is not playing him. He's on an expiring contract, so could there be a buyout coming?

He'll be an awesome pickup for someone if he actually gets bought out. He can still defend at a very high level.

I'd take him for sure, but I think the Spurs will probably be able to trade him.

First-World problem of playing with a Top 25 player of all-time... "Woe is me of being too wide-open".
But I've actually thought about this over the last couple years. Maybe it is my bias of wanting Giannis to get credit for useless stats. but it seems like we have a disproportionate amount of missed wiiiiiiide-open 3s.

It's been painful, but I have no idea how the Bucks actually compare to other teams. I just go with the Basketball Gods know how unfair the Bucks would be if they hit those shots, so they level the playing field a bit.MartyConlonOnTheRun wrote:Matches Malone wrote:Couldn't be less worried about Grayson's shooting struggles right now.
