It is just Dragic needs to gain his value, otherwise, I would have Banton as the backup PG for 10mins a game.

He needs reps in 905. This is the year to do it. Let him play 40 min a night and run the 905. That's likely what will happen im guessing.

Based on previous seasons rookies, he'll probably get major minutes with 905 and be with the Raptors on days the 905 dont play at the same time.

To be fair, if Barnes ends up being the best player in the draft and becomes a superstar, his impact to draft ranking will surpass anyones.

Relax a bit  , Banton has played in total 29 minutes in 4 games! 29 minutes! Precious played 29 minutes last night

Dragic is no longer that player. He has just been plain bad this season.

The older you get, the higher the probability that your production will fall off a cliff.

it seems that people think Dragic because his name is Dragic is at least a solid role player still. But he isn't. He is a liability on offense and defense and is arguably the worst Raps rotational player.

He was the only who got to the heart of the defense against the Bulls?
He didn't register an assist, but his pass to Birch and few more ended up going to the line. He also went to the line a few times because of his ability to drive to the basket.

His shot isn't falling, including the one in transition, but that is a matter of time. I still think his skill set is what many teams need (including us who can pass it to shooters, eg. Boucher).

1) He can improve his ability to play the point. Right now we're not exactly playing him at the point.
2) In-game shooting. You can practice all you want by yourself but until you're getting reps in the game it doesn't matter. Right now he's such a bad shooter we don't want him shooting.

The whole point of the 905 is to give these guys reps in a role they can't currently perform at the NBA level. In the 905 he can be the starting point guard. He can't get that specific experience with the big club right now.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

I am not sure we are watching the same game when you claim Banton can't currently perform at the NBA level. Nurse also mentioned he was surprised it wasn't Banton asked for more minutes. Maybe your thought is Ben Simmons should be in G-League?

Banton is better than Flynn and Dragic. He should get minutes.

I didn't say that. I even bolded the word 'role'.

He can do both.

He can travel with the team and play in 82 rs games and get some starts in the 905 when he's home.

Banton needs as much reps as possible. He redshirted what would have been his sophomore year and then only played a short college season last year. He has some natural passing and defensive skills and that run he went on against Washington was no joke. More than anything, the 905 will get his strength and conditioning level up because the NBA has such a high level athletes.

What? He's from Rexdale. He even wears 45 after the bus route that runs from Kipling station into the Rex.

He's fun to watch. Much more than Tragic or Flynn.

Can any college ball fans tell me why Banton wasn't more seen on second round mocks?

I don't remember seeing a single one that had him in the second round, and when the pick came in it sort of surprised everyone

Dude is a blur in transition. At his size, when he gets a full head of steam, he's hard to stop.

His stroke looks better already as well.

His speed is crazy for his size. I’m always shocked when he’s on the break. Smooth and quick handle

After tonight's game I'm not as sure he will get 905 time, but playing full PG might still help him.

Someone said the other day how fast he is, and it showed tonight, and Jack Armstrong pointed it out well. He just has speed with the ball.

Matt Devlin has made the lame joke about Banton being used to traffic, being from Rexdale, 2 games straight now. Hopefully he stops that.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Banton is the truth!

The team has always played better when he’s on the floor since game 1. it’s wild to say that, but it’s 100% true.

I’m glad he got some early + extra burn today. If he can keep hitting those spot triples like he did tonight vs Indy, then watch out.

This boys special. Masai found another one.

I was fully on the "he should get lots of development minutes in the G-League" bandwagon, but after tonight, I'm starting to re-think that. If they're going to give him minutes with the big club, maybe he can learn the game even better there, while helping the team win.

I'll admit, I didn't think he was ready. Sure, he'll still have some wild plays, bad turnovers, and missed shots, but he definitely affects the game. And if he's getting in lots of practice with Nurse's shooting school, that's probably the biggest development piece for him.
