One interesting thing you are seeing more now is guards who can't shoot acting as the roll man in PNR. Let's them get going downhill and playmake 4-on-3. Clippers did this a lot against us with Bledsoe.

What other guards have you seen doing this?

Bruce Brown last year on the Nets is another example, although it looks like his general role has been diminished this year

Lakers did similar stuff with Russ in last night's game.

The officiating emphasis is the best part IMO

It's another reason every team doesn't need to be playing with a center.
The Rockets tried to do this with Westbrook in 2019 as well.

It helps when your guard who can't shoot is a center defensively. What makes Draymond so valuable, and why I think teams should be lining up to get Ben Simmons even with all the hooplah

Ben Simmons probably can be a center defensively but is that what you want to do with him on that end considering his strengths at guarding smaller players and wing players?

Lonzo's defense looked amazing against Raptors. Griffin's summer was malpractice.

I think the assumption is you'd be running a switch heavy, small ball type defense. Certainly wouldn't be running a drop defense with Simmons at center. You'd probably need a traditional big body center for the Embiids and Jokics of the league, but for the most part I think you can go "small" with Simmons at center just fine

we dont know for sure if ben could play small ball center defensively nearly as well as he plays perimeter defense
for all his height and athletism. his build is not as wide as draymond and we dont know if he would have the feel to play center. center defense and perimeter defense are too different beasts

Can we talk about Evan Mobley’s defense? It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen: he seems just perfect in almost every technical facet on that end of the court.

He's such an exciting prospect, he's been unbelievable on that end, I've been enjoying just solely focusing on him on Cavs defensive possessions, and he is just exhibiting a beautiful blend of athleticism, mobility and defensive IQ, but still clearly with areas to improve which is very exciting.
Side note on the cavs is Darius Garland has been awful to start the season. I was really excited for his development this year, its been a bizarre and poor start for him though, hope he picks it up (obviously he won't remain at this level of awful).
I think Cade and Jalen are going to have to become absolutely unreal prospects to warrant being taken over Mobley, I'm that high on him. If he can become good on the offensive end, the skys the limit. I just don't see it with Jalen, to me I see a supercharged Lavine/beal kind of player if he realises his potential, which while a good player, just isn't what I'm looking for in a prospect personally.
Curious to hear opposing takes on Jalen here, I'd love to see another perspective.

offensive rating is down to 2016 levels right now, which is lower than like any season between 1979-1997

Haven't had a chance to watch the Cavs at all - I know people were concerned about a crowded front court between him Jarrett Allen and Lauri. Has he been more of a 4 defensively or a 5? Who's he been sharing his minutes with?
