Post Game Thoughts. Bucks.

Post#1 » by coolcono » Thu Oct 28, 2021 2:31 am

I was only able to watch the second half.
The coach is much better than Saunders. The defensive effort is night and day.
Anthony Edwards is going to be better than Cade Cunningham.
Kat looked pretty good, but made poor double team passes.
Russel looked ok, but made some dumb plays as well. If he continues to shoot a decent clip, this team can compete with anybody.
It is really nice having great defensive minded veterans off the bench.
Vando was the utility man, but we need to have only one defensive specialist/offensive non-impact player on the floor at a time.

I think we match up with the Bucks pretty well. They didn't have a banger center. Was Lopez playing tonight?

Tbh I don’t think anyone from this rookie class will be as good as Ant or Lamelo. Suggs has been yikes.

Scottie Barnes has been the best rookie of the 2021 Draft class, thus far.

So far the best rookies have been Mobley and Barnes. Green and Giddey have not been bad either.

If I had to take one rookie long term, it’s Mobley. He’s going to win a few defensive player of the year awards and be a Chris Bosh type on offense. So good. Just needs some strength.

He’s had one good game and a bunch of stinkers, it’s early though and we all know Ant didn’t get going till Saunders got canned but he had no preseason /summer league or anything either.

Good game. Albeit need more punch in the final two minutes. Overall though they did what was necessary. Build a solid lead, managed shooting slumps to a minimum, padded the lead when Giannis was sitting. Not too bad.
And that post game interview with KAT, someone was sleeping at the dump button. Lol

The new defensive effort is letting the Wolves compete in games where the offense isn't great. Poor 3pt shooting (29%) and too many turnovers (17 TO) would have all but guaranteed a loss the last few years.

When things got tight the big 3 resorted to the same type of hero ball that caused us problems last game. Fortunately we built a big enough of a lead to stave off the comeback.

The team still has a long way to go toward building offensive chemistry. A lot of our makes have a high degree of difficulty that will lead to off nights where we can’t buy a bucket. Very rarely do we make the extra pass to get an open shot in the rhythm of the offense. However, the activity level on defensive is best I’ve seen since Thibs was here. My ‘crazy’ prediction of a top 15 defensive team is definitely in play.

I think to build offensive chemistry Finch has to set a fixed starting lineup. Here’s hoping Vanderbilt at the 4 and McDaniels at the 3 is where he lands.

If the hero ball is give it to Ant and clear out, I’m all for it.

This team can become really good if they can cut down some of these sloppy turnovers on offense..every game, they have like atleast 3-4 absolutely needless and dumb turnovers

It's important to remember we are in the early stages of building an identity. This entire season we are rebuilding, not in the sense of throwing a bunch of scrubs out there but in the sense of we are becoming the team we will be for the next 5 years or so. Getting out to a nice start will be fantastic. I think realistically we will be roughly a .500 team. Lots of bumps and growing pains but an identity will form.

We are going to lose a lot of games to good teams but we will win our share too.

Wonder when Bolmaro is going to get some minutes. The bench needs a guy with his skillset and Gupta could have more trade assets to play around with.

Bolmaro should be starting for Iowa and be called back up if injuries demand it or if he just dominates there. Right now the rotation is too packed to find a spot for him.

So this is how it feels when you win games because of defense. Couldn't even imagine, but it's pretty great.

The team was on a mission and it was a joy to watch. Also Ant is an allround player now. Deal with it.

My thoughts are I REALLY like the defensive effort this team gives. Outside of the 2nd Pelicans game, our teams have been scrambling.

Ant is also the **** man

I'm watching the replay and one thing I like about Finch is that he calls very timely timeouts..whether the guys are getting tired & the effort is getting stale or the other team is starting to cut into a lead, it's so refreshing from what Saunders/Thibs used to do and let the games get out of hand

My only thoughts. What is up with Jaden McDaniels?
