I wonder what Sean Marks is thinking now? All the off season moves except Patty Mills and Bembry looking like a huge disaster(granted they were universally praised).
He has to be start thinking of trading Kyrie if he our play does not improve. Thank god KD re-signed because I'd be scared af atm.

Meh, I guess I’m still on the Nash bandwagon. I really don’t think this is on him at all.
It’s not his fault Harden became a scrub overnight. It’s not his fault none of our shooters can shoot. It’s not his fault Kyrie is MIA.
There has been massive regression from everyone except Durant, and Kyrie decided to take a vacation. The biggest issue obviously being Harden, who went from an MVP-level player to a bona fide scrub so far this season.
I continue to find blaming the coaching for the players screwing up to be extremely lazy. Miami didn’t shoot well at all actually, and their offense overall despite the advantage in offensive rebounding was mediocre. So our defense wasn’t even a problem, only reason it seems that way is because we couldn’t score at all. And I would like to point to the poor 3pt shooting, the absent All-Star, and the other All-Star who might as well be absent for the bad offense before I even think about blaming Nash.
Have we ever had a coach who wasn’t the cause of all things bad? Y’all would eviscerate Phil Jackson or Gregg Popovich if they were here.

We got outworked and out coached. Nash needs to go. Marks is gonna let this guy **** everything up
Shout out to Kyrie btw
It can’t be a mix of both? We’ve been allowing Nash off the hook all last year as well.

Maybe it can be but painting the issue as one sided, when it's mostly on Harden & our 3pt shooting (the offense issues), it seems incredibly dumb to me. If Harden gets back to his all star form of last season and our 3pt shooting bounces back to normal, we probably only have maybe 1 loss this season.Paradise wrote:DarkXaero wrote:You guys will keep bitching about the coaching and ignore what's happening in front of your eyes. Like, you guys are acting like Blake and LMA did any better than Millsap. And you have people complaining about switching on defense…when that’s the defense the entire league uses and if we didn’t switch, we would have gotten lit up even worse.
Feel like a lot of this is fans not understanding the modern NBA and how defensive principles from the early to mid 00s don’t work anymore.

Nash admits he ‘skipped the line’. I’ve yet to see what he brings to the table that made him worthy of skipping other candidates.
IMO, he is by far the greatest stain on Marks Nets tenure. He let nostalgia and friendship blind him from being impartial about the coaching process. Marks did so well with the Kenny hire: a guy who doesn’t sleep and had paid his dues by coaching all over the world.
Then he goes the complete opposite route by bringing a guy who was a part-time consultant for the Warriors. The fact that Nash was never even an assistant coach is laughable, and yet he was handed the keys to championship-caliber personnel.
This feels like what’s happening with Manchester United in the English Premier League. They’ve got world class talent, but a clueless manager.

Kyrie Irving ($35 mill)-Not playing
James Harden ($44 mill)-Severe underperformance
Joe Harris ($17.3 mill)-Severe underperformance
That's around $97 mill of our cap of severely underperforming/not playing. But it's a coaching issue.

I thought Millsap was slightly better than Blake tonight, which isn't saying much but I didn't have an issue with which big we closed out with, they were all roughly around same performance level. I'm not sure why people are getting worked up over that. Also we already tried going big early this season and it didn't work. Switch everything is the way for us to go and we can't do drop coverage for the most part.therealbig3 wrote:Like, you guys are acting like Blake and LMA did any better than Millsap. Yep. Fire Nash.Sharcm1 wrote:Should we start the fire Nash thread yet? I’m sorry he has no game plan. This switching defense constantly puts our bugs on the perimeter while their opposing bigs are in the paint towering over our guards for offensive rebounds. There is a reason it keeps happening.

I feel like we're at the point where we tell Harden to take a week off to work on his conditioning. He looks terrible.
We're also getting to the point where we're seeing that the roster without Kyrie is too light on shooters and offensive players. I literally don't care about the defense and rebounding. Last year we were dropping 120 on bad nights. So far we're struggling to crack 100. That's EXTREMELY concerning.
Not sure where we go from here - it's still early - but I'm not confident in the fit right now. Harden playing like this is a huge surprise. Huge blow to our team if he doesn't step it up in a big way.

Just because a team shot poorly doesn’t mean that it was due to the other team defending well.
Miami doesn’t have great offensive creators. Given their team makeup, they have to rely upon hustle, grit, defense and second chance points to win.

You don’t need stars in order to rebound and cut down on the number of extra possessions the opposition gets. That comes down to effort and proper understanding of defensive rotations. Nothing that the Nets do indicates to me that they’re in sync defensively. We have some solid individual defenders, but our team defense is not good.

OKC is crazy young, but they play harder than most teams. Due to their youth closing out games is a astronomical task. Hopefully that changes tonight!

It's early in the year.
I think we all need to calm down about Harden.
Nash sucks balls tho. Our lack of rebounding on defense is a direct result of our over switching. No one knows where their assignment is when the ball goes up.

So it's only game 5 but we haven't had one great offensive QUARTER all season. That's a huge concern.
This Harden stuff about him rehabbing in the off-season is BS IMO. The dude didn't take care of his body or work on his craft and now he's getting embarrassed. This magical rehab doesn't stop you from losing weight or working on your ball handling or working on your shot. He looks rusty and like he's relying on BBIQ. I'm straight up getting Deron Williams flashbacks watching some of this.
This is our championship window and I just can't believe how little care guys like Kyrie, Claxton, Harden, and Blake have shown. I really thought guys would be coming for revenge this year.

I was scared of this D. Will thought too. If Harden is not Harden than we in some real trouble, hoping for Kyrie won't solve it period. We pretty much have to cross our fingers at this point.

He was rehabbing a hamstring injury dude, he just said he didn't play pickup during the summer due to the rehab. You cannot rush hamstring rehab, especially when it's recurring hamstring strains. His work over the summer was focused on rehabbing and strengthening his hamstring. I'm confident that he'll get back to his best or near his best, he just needs time to get there.MGrand15 wrote:So it's only game 5 but we haven't had one great offensive QUARTER all season. Like I keep saying, our 3pt shooting needs to bounce back, we have been awful shooting 3s.

I suggest to lower your expectations until Harden is 100%. That dude alone went on a west coast trip and spanked some quality teams. Now with KD along he can't even get 20 pts, 20 pts!!!
With no quality guard we going to be 500 team simply because KD will win some games by himself. It'll be extra hard with teams giving us their best.
Get well James.
