Barnes got real aggressive in that second quarter. I can’t even picture him taking 17 shot attempts, it’s all new to him when you know he was in a limited role off the bench at Florida too. It reminds me of…dare I say…Vince Carter when we all started realizing he could score and wasn’t just a back seat to Antwan Jamison in college.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

If Delano keeps up the play, the small guard's days are numbered. That's lots of trade bait.

Imagine if the Giannis 2021 pipe dream actually happened. We’d have a death lineup of Banton-OG-Scottie-Pascal-Giannis

Good luck even completing a pass

Is he purposely trying to tank his value and either demand a lesser return in a trade OR force the team to buy him out?

I don't think so, he's just a slow starter. Some guys don't stay in peak shape all year, he seems like the kind who play themselves into shape.

I bet he's been like this in Miami.
Not really. Dragic typically started off the season very well with Miami, but it's hard to judge him so far when his playing time/role is completely different. In Miami, Dragic was typically coming off the bench for 25-30 minutes while hoisting up 12-15 shots. Dragic has played 8 games for us so far (preseason and regular season) and is averaging about 7 FGA in 17 MPG. So he's playing slightly more than half as many minutes while he's also taking shots much less frequently. It's no surprise that his best scoring game (preseason against the Wizards) came without FVV+OG and Dragic playing 22 minutes.

Who knows if Dragic will ever be a key piece for us (personally, I think he will be leading the bench unit when Siakam returns, especially if/when we start to string together more wins), but the start to his Raptors career doesn't mean he's washed or anything like that.

Indy is still paying Nate...so he can't get another "coaching" job...so he's on the staff as a "consultant"...lol

They announced before the season that Nate is an assistant coach so maybe they paid a buyout?

A full NBA training camp probably helped, but I also think his game is way more suited for the NBA game than the college game (which gets congested and doesn't flow at all) or even Summer League (which is a hot mess at times and doesn't flow as well as actual NBA games). He looks great when he has space and can move freely. You could see a lot of that stuff in his college highlights but it looks better in NBA games because he has more room, in general.

Yeah, maybe. I wouldn't be shocked either way. I've always seen him as a high variance streaky player. Very hot or cold, be it injuries or whatever reason. I still wouldn't cut him just on principles, either way. If that turns out to be the case.

Works for us in 2 ways: we don't have any Harden/Derozan types that specialize in cheap fouls.

Derozan's still getting to the line at his normal rate.....its based on superior footwork and craftiness.

Its the Harden and Trae Youngs of the world that are taking a hit....i.e. guys who like getting fouled while taking step back 3s.

There was no official announcement but he’s officially a coach.

https://www.nba.com/raptors/mlsel-management

He’s officially 4th on the pecking order behind Griffin, Watson and Gleeson so that’s why you see him sit on the “back row” but when Nurse calls timeout, he’s the first to huddle up with his buddy and give his input. I’ve also seen Nate draw up end of game plays too. I really don’t know his role but I hope it doesn’t cause any friction because Watson and Gleeson agreed to come here to be “Front Row” coaches. I’m sure it’s fine though but not sure how Nurse divvies up the Offence/defence/special teams duties with 4 qualified assistants.

Though it has been announced that Nate will go away to coach the Canadian national team during the season in the next set of qualifiers.

Yeah no, if the Raptors had Giannis, Lowry probably resigns and there's no Scottie as they'd be in no draft position to get him.

Giannis alone does that.

I want to see a lineup of Barnes, Banton, Boucher, Birch and Bonga.

The Killer B's.

And it wouldn't be the worst lineup we could put out there

Banton gave a shout to "Coach Earl" for helping him, in tonight's postgame. A good sign
