Scottie is in the upper tier of NBA athletes, top 1%

Giannis is basically top 0.001%
in other words, there's no one like him

Even in the side-by-side you can just see how much more long, fast and explosive Giannis is. It's not a fair comparison for literally any other player in NBA history. Dude is the freak of all freaks.

Barnes has looked special so far and has overwhelming size/length compared to most of the league, but Giannis is just something else.

Not really a good comparison, as said before the draft, the handling and passing would be similar, but Barnes is not a PF/C, he has been guarding PG and scoring against smaller players. He is more a wing or guard.

Yes, hence the first 8 words of my post.

He will have a better chance getting assists on offense. Siakam gives the offense more structure, this helps Barnes.

I agree. On the other hand....the volleyball pass Barnes converted from fred to OG is something i've never seen giannis do. So yah....not as athletic but i think his IQ shows potential in a way thats different from giannis' game. I dont think it's a good comparison. Also dont get the Pippen comps.

I was weary of the magic johnson comparisons....but it DOES look to be a valid influence on at least PART of what type of player barnes can become.

Maybe someone can add to this list but the best comps i've heard are part draymond, part magic, part odom.

Scottie is never going to be Giannis. Giannis is a generational athlete. He's the Shaq of this generation.

But that's okay. Scottie is way more skilled than Giannis and has better basketball IQ. They're totally different players.

I'm sitting here watching the defensive highlights of OG/Barnes/Banton and the rest and I'm here smiling at work like an idiot.

Only the uneducated we the north fan kiddies question him. Real fans with knowledge don't listen to internet scouts or "experts" on ESPN.

He seems to have really toned it down (relatively speaking). I saw flashes of it in his first pre-season game and it still comes out here and there (Boston game after the dunk) but does not seem as animated anymore.

I wonder if people told him to tone it down? Is that generally considered a bad look for a young player/rookie?

I actually liked the fire that I saw him play with in collage/high school and summer league.

I've noticed it too. He was even doing it pre season but in the season he has toned it down. Team probably told him to earn his stripes first

The comp is poor man's LeBron.

Why are people so hesitant to say it?

People have thrown that around for Ben Simmons, but for some reason it's sacrilege for Barnes. Is it because there wasn't enough draft hype?

He was a top 4 pick by the best drafting front office, in what looks like a strong draft. He could be really really good.

I agree Scottie will never be Giannis athletically because hes a freak of freaks but remember Giannis wasn't what he is now. Scottie is stronger then Giannis was at his age and if he continues to improve his body we could potentially see a similar athlete to Giannis in the future but most likely he will always be a tier below which is still crazy impressive considering he might have an even better feel then Giannis

Scottie gotta get comfortable going left with his dribble as well. Having counter moves going left will go a long way.

Once teams start to sit on his right side (which will happen VERY soon), he is going to have to make adjustments.

Remember when we were all upset on draft night (myself included) that we passed on one of the big 4 for a zero level scorer. Fun times.

Trust Masai.

Its really nice to see he had 2 dimes in the HC. One off a SLOB no less. Just watching him evolve has been a treat and were only 5 games in.

Masai is proof none of us know anything about the draft  if Masai drafts a 5’7 28 year old hockey player I will assume that player will be a star

Kid started off poorly with his field goal attempts and misses, yet stuck with it, got a few easy buckets in the flow as the game went along. Never looked to force anything.

A lot of high lottery picks would either start forcing things or just put their head down.

Trust Masai.

They were plenty here that did not believe the hype of a 6'4 guard with basic length and basic athleticism for one second (the next Wade  ).
