Looking at Suggs right now, what would you be thinking? would you be upset?

Our starting 5 would a NBA finals contender FVV|OG|Simmons|Siakam|Stretch 5

Spare the Hawks series tunnel vision. He averaged a triple-double the round prior

Ben Simmons career 3PTers = 5
Dalano Banton career 3PTers = 3

Keep your triple doubles. I'll take two versions of Simmons that guys actually like playing with. Look at Siakam flying off the bench at every whistle. He wants in. Simmons wants his own team.

Now you can actually see via Barnes that making a 3 or/and scoring at a high-level are absolutely not required to dominate a game on both ends

with that new knowledge in mind: :)

It was +1200 prior to Boston game... +800 just after. I got in at +800.

Simmons was a playoffs flop even as a #4/5 option. Couldn't even stay on the court. With a massive contract.

Barnes is already scoring more than Ben ever has.

My belief has always been to draft big wings with playmaking ability. Giddey and barnes were my guys during the draft, but I was totally wrong on Mobley and he is a defensive stud.

They relatively hover around the same parts of the floor to get their offence flowing. Will Scottie be relegated to a 5th option on the floor ? Or will he continue to get 15-18 points a game by doing the dirty work.

Nurse has slowly been adding more and more on Scotties plate. Last night Scottie was running the point more with FVV playing the two.

Tells me that Scottie and Fred will be the guards when Pascal returns with OG and Pascal up front. GTJ will be moved to the bench to play with Banton, Yuta and Boucher.

Scottie has a mid-range game. He's also not afraid to take 3s.

But the question is not Barnes vs Simmons. It is the 4th pick as Suggs vs Simmons as a hypothetical.
would you rather have
Suggs 28.6 FG% 21.4 3P% with greenlight|current FVV|current OG| or
a NBA finals contender starting 5 current FVV|current OG|Simmons|Siakam|Stretch 5

Simmons didn't develop a shot during his redshirt season. Barnes will come back with a much better shot next year. How can you be 5 years in the league and not have any type of jump shot?

The thing is i'm far from some scouting expert but it was pretty obvious from video of him even pre-draft that Scottie's jumper was far from a lost cause.

A little mental exercise i like to do when comping players and especially prospects is imagining what a one-on-one game would look like between the two players - and no matter how I worked it in my head I couldn't see how Suggs could ever match up against Scottie one on one, on offense or defense. And given that Scottie's team-game was always praised at least as much if not more than Suggs', it was pretty easy to see Barnes as a much better prospect.

i think precious goes to the bench too(or should)he needs the ball in his hands alot for his developement and doesnt work well with this starting grp. the amount of gimme passes hes misses from barnes/FVV is concerning so far. im sure he will get better, but i would prefer birch with the starting grp..hes a better fit imo and wouldnt have a problem being the 5th option on the floor as opposed to barnes.

birch
siakam
OG
barnes
fred.

at least imo.

Well, i'm a guy who wouldn't take Simmons on that contract at all, even giving up zero assets, let alone a 4th overall pick.

A bit of a stretch but it's definitely easy to see him becoming a good one in the future.

He's still shooting below 30% from the mid range and under 20% from the 3.

I agree with you. Hopefully Nurse does as well and Birch is only coming off the bench right now because he missed a lot of training camp.

There's all sorts of ways to split up "range" but here's what he looks like in 5 foot intervals:

0-5: 6.4fga, 65.6%
5-10: 2.8fga, 57.1%
10-15: 1.4fga, 42.9%
15-20: 1.2fga, 33.3%
20-25: 0.6fga, 33.3%
25-20: 1.0fga, 20.0%

Kinda funny how perfect the changes per zone are.

Tell me you're a moron without telling me you're a moron.

How you gonna establish habit for a rookie 4 games in?

Dudes exceeding everyone's expectations and you wanna talk about disappearing. You know he doesn't get a choice when the offense doesn't run through him right? He's thriving while cleaning up on the boards, transitions, defense while getting a shot in the halfcourt once in a random while.

Can you cash out your bet before the actual ROY announcement? Like closing your position before expiry.

Right now must be good time to sell / cash out, then reload the bet for Barnes ROY after Siakam returns and takes away his mins and touches.

Simmons does other things exceptionally - playmaking, running transition offense, defense - and he is content living off that and his hype. So he is unmotivated to improve his shot. Now that he has a max contract, even less motivation.

im ok with that too, as long as precious goes to the bench. hes effectively a rookie as well in my mind given his playing time last year
and has alot to learn still, i love is potential but hes definitely the one of the rawest players on our team along with banton. send him out with the second unit and give him alot of touches.

Return to Toronto Raptors
