You Have Been Hired As Kings GM: You Must Trade Marvin Bagley III and Buddy Hield

Post#1 » by NYG » Fri Oct 29, 2021 12:05 am

You have just been hired as Kings GM.

Rules
1. You are being told to trade both Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III either together or as two separate moves.
2. You CAN include Harrison Barnes, Maurice Harkless and Tristan Thompson.
3. You CANNOT include Tyrese Haliburton, De'Aaron Fox or Davion Mitchell.
4. You CAN include a 2022 draft pick if you clearly upgrade the talent for the 2021-22 season.
5. You CANNOT trade any other draft picks.

What's your Hield and Bagley deals?

3 team trade.

Sac
Out: Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley 3 and Top 10 protected 1st.
In: Jerami Grant and Dennis Bertans

Sac get another wing defender in Grant that can create some O to join Barnes, and a bench spacer in Bertans to replace Buddy's new role.

Det
Out: Jerami Grant
In: Marvin Bagley 3, Corey Kispert and Sac Top 10 protected 1st

Pistons take some young flyers and a pick.

Was
Out: Dennis Bertans and Corey Kispert
In: Buddy Hield

Wasington turn two shooters into a better one on shorter contract in Buddy from Bertans. Balancing roster a little assuming Rui comes back this season.

Hello Houston? Yes, Bagley and a lightly protected first for Wood.

Wait until the deadline looking for a pretender that needs shooting…Hello Pretended? Yes, Buddy (and maybe a second) for short term bad salary and your late first?

I would probably go the veteran depth route...

Buddy Hield, Tristan Thompson and Jami'us Ramsey for Eric Gordon, D.J. Augustin and Danuel House

Marvin Bagley III for Thaddeus Young

Wiggins to SAC (need more of a forward than Hield)

Buddy to GS (need offensive punch, save significant money)

Bagley and better of the GS/Tor '22 2nds to OKC (take a free swing on a former #2 and grab a 2nd out of the deal)

Maybe Kenrich to SAC can be worked in, value depending on how OKC views Bagley?
I bought a boat.

Wolves could use Hield. A package around a 1st round lottery protected pick or McDaniels with Okogie and filler, got Beasley too so a lot of moving parts.

Disagree. We’ve basically already got him with Beasley at 2/3rds the cost.

Won't argue with you there about Beasley of years past, but he seems a bit affected with all the offseason and personal issues. Hield seems more reliable but yeah it's not a great trade on paper.

I’ll take the gamble that he regains form before adding assets to turn him into a more expensive version of himself.

I would not trade Frank Jackson for Marvin Bagley (I assume it's a typo right?), I couldn't care less about Josh Jackson tho.

Detroit frontcourt is good, our backcourt is historically bad

KO/Stewart
Grant/Lyles/KO
Bey/Grant

That's our only strength. We have no place for Bagley and he is bad. If Sacramento decides to trade Bagley, they'll either add a small asset or will take a longer contract back.

Pistons have too many swingmen and guards. With this, here is what I suspect depth chart would be:

Cunningham/Joseph/Lee
Bey/Hayes/McGruder
Grant/Diallo/Smith
Bagley/Lyles/Livers
Stewart/Olynyk/Garza

I want to get Buddy/backup PG to Cleveland with Sexton/Rubio to a 3rd team and a forward to the Kings. But can't quite find the right deal.

Bagley would not see the court at all. Lyles and KO are much better than him, and Weaver is in love with Stewart. Grant should be 4 and Bey 3.

For me idealy the roster will be

Starting C / Stewart
Grant / Lyles
Bey / Grant / Cade
Cade / F.Jackson
Starting PG / Lee

KO is too old, Bagley is not good enough to be in the depth chart, Frank Jackson is a decent young guy with potential that should have a future with the team. So a Bagley for Frank Jackson would be a no go, even tho, neither of them have any trade value.

As Kings acting GM, I do NOT want Simmons on my roster around my already guard rich team. On good authority, I know Wolves are one of the few organizations that actually want him on their roster. So yes, I jump into Simmons saga…

76ers Trade:
Simmons + Harris + Joe
FOR
Westbrook + Beasley (or Prince - 76ers choose 1) + MB3 + 3x Wolves 1sts + 2x Wolves 1st Swaps

Lakers Trade:
Westbrook + Small Filler Player
FOR
Buddy + Beverley (or Prince)

Wolves Trade:
Beasley and/or Prince and/or Beverley + Bolmaro + Picks Package (see above)
FOR
Simmons + Joe + Lakers Small Filler Player

Kings Trade:
Buddy + MB3
FOR
Harris + Bolmaro

As Kings GM, I help Lakers undo their offseason mistake (Westbrook instead of Buddy) and help Morey get a big name player for trading Simmons. In return, I balance my roster, get a young prospect on full rookie deal, and move on from old regime draft mistake in MB3.

Holmes | Len | Jones | (TT)
Harris | (Barnes) | TT | (Hark)
Barnes | Hark | Bolmaro
Hali | (Fox) | Davis | (Bolmaro)
Fox | (Hali) | Mitchell

Id prefer to just move Bagley and keep Buddy. His 3pt shooting and scoring ability has proven to be necessary. If I was hired as the GM I'd fire Walton in the first hour.

But going along with the challenge -

Bagley + 2 2nds for Thad.

Buddy feels like a fit on the Celtics and the pacers, but I can't figure out a deal. Richardson is awful, so I'd definitely want some incentive attached to him.

Richardson/nesmith/grant Williams for buddy/Woodard?
