Both fanbases should team up to break the Internet by drowning out the trolls with effusive praise for the other team's player. Make it the opposite of Trae/Luka.

You only need a small group to get it started!

While that would be great, it seems like Scottie and Jalen will forever be linked for the same reason Luka and Trae are. Worked out well for both teams in the 2018 draft since both Luka and Trae turned out great. Here’s hoping the same thing happens here too

I believe that Scottie Barnes has a higher celling than Jalen Suggs. His superior physical tools to go along with his all around skill set are quite impressive. If his jump shot comes around I feel as though he has All-Star games in his future. I was never very high on Suggs, but if I was a Magic fan I certainly would not be concerned at this juncture. There have been plenty of great guards that have had rough starts to their careers. He looks the part defensively and eventually shots will begin to fall. I just doubt he will become a franchise player or anything like that. If he become a Jrue Holiday type of player then there is nothing to complain about imo.
Scottie has shown a lot of maturity not taking 3 pointers, until he learns to shoot better. I wish MCW would do the same.

He probably won't end up a franchise player without an outside shot. He could end up a less athletic Ben Simmons.

Simmons averaged 16/8/8 his rookie season, along with nearly 2 steals.

Scottie Barnes is extremely athletic and that is one of his major strengths. The Ben Simmons comparison is a very good one though. Barnes has at least shown in his young career the willingness to shoot jumpers unlike Ben Simmons.

Suggs %s are awful, but I’m not worried about his shot. Mechanically looks fine, gets his legs under it, has enough arc and he shoots the same shot every time.

We had Elfrid shooting better from 3 his rookie year but I don’t think anyone was optimistic about him becoming a good shooter, let alone a great one, because it was hideous.

Maybe it’s the homer in me but I’m more worried about his finishing (and I’m not worried about either aspect). Needs to get that Fultz layup package.

My idea was in jest to really lean into it, but I’m not sure it will ever reach Trae/Luka levels. In that case, both teams had an active part in the trade, so both fan bases had reason to be anxious. In this case, the Magic were completely passive in the whole thing. (Certainly if Masai had been able to fleece the Magic FO as rumored to trade up one spot, that would be different.)

Obviously some Magic fans couldn’t contain their glee on draft night. Otherwise, Barnes wasn’t available at 5, so why should we care other than to feed trolls like in this thread?

That means the interest in linking the two players will mostly be one-sided. So it’s hard to see it taking on the same impact as Trae/Luka.

Gilbert spoke the truth. Suggs sadly was way overhyped and will totally underwhelm. I feel sad for Magic fans and especially him because he really is a great guy.

His basketball skillset isn’t top tier caliber, he has no handles, no shot, not a great passer either. He'll be decent but not the game changer that many hailed him to be

Man, this thread turned into a Canuck troll-fest...OK Hosers, who should we have drafted?

I'd be really interested to hear what Masai was asking of WeHam to trade up to 4 (to get Suggs) and WeHam said "no thanks". Or...did WeHam really want Barnes and didn't think Masai had the cojones to pass on Suggs. The selection of Barnes looks good and kudos to TOR, but there's no question Suggs was nearly everyone's choice at 4...I really like Scottie Barnes (and TOR overall) but my long-term money is still on Suggs...I truly believe things will click any day now and the narrative will go 180 degrees. I just saw the same thing happen, on a lesser scale, with Franz going from preseason scrub to All-Rookie Team candidate...on that note, this looks like a really good class already.

To answer your question, you guys should’ve drafted Josh Giddey or Sengun. The magic will regret it!

We’re talking about the Magic, not the warriors.

The many high praisers of Suggs will be wrong, much to the demise of the Magic. I actually like the Magic but you guys didn’t get the ‘steal of the draft’ like many have claimed
