25% of the cap (~$28M) + 8% raises for 5 years from us. Would be somewhere on the order of $160M-170M.

25% of the cap + 5% raises for 4 years from other teams.

If he keeps this up we should get him to sign an offer sheet and match it so we commit to one less year and slightly smaller annual raises. 5 year contracts rarely work out well unless it is for a truly transcendent talent. LaMelo might be in that conversation but Miles is not going to be on that level IMO.

nah but I'd agree about the other Nuggets PF that signed a gigantic extension this summer. Miles is noticeably better than Aaron Gordon now, and if he keeps up like this it really isn't close

He's better than Porter JR IMO.

Miles plays both ends of the floor and with complete effort at all times.

So how long before Miles is dubbed a star player. I mean this could be his linsanity moment but wow has been on a tear to start things off. If he were to finish the season with the stats he has today I think it would be the best season by a player offensively for our franchise since the Bobcats came to town. Granted as I say this Harrison Barnes is averaging nearly 30 a game so things are likely going to change but still what a strong start to the season. Before the season I would have been happy with like 16ppg, now I'm expecting 20+.

Most improved player is a lock at this rate.

Miles and LaMelo are a hell of a pair.

Cheap offer...smart by Miles to bet on himself. At this rate he'll get 4/100 at least...and it'd better be us paying him. Feels like he loves being here and this is a great situation for him here with Melo etc.

Yikes. No wonder he passed. Big mistake on our end. We prob could have locked him up at 4 for 80 or 90. Now it will be 130.

While I think 4/$60mil would have been an under pay, I get why the FO dangled that out there.

Had he taken it - great!

He didn't, so we play the long game (as does he).

So now we wait and see how the entire season plays out. We're all very excited and happy about how Miles has started the season, but we are only 5 games in. Let's see how things play out in 77 games time and make an assessment then.

that also says baseline and doesn't say if they negotiated up to a higher number

Windhorst sure as **** isn't getting info from Mitch, so Klutch obviously leaked this. Wouldn't take it as representative of what all went down and where it all landed.

God I dislike these armchair douchebags who state the Hornets will HAVE to...

Unless this guy has a crystal ball or a DeLoren, he has no idea how this season plays out or what $$$$ should be put in front of Miles in a years time.

without knowing what he would have actually signed the dotted line for theres no way to know how much they cost themselves by not extending him and kind of pointless to speculate

I think the general consensus around here before this leaked was we should have offered around 4 years $80 million. We don't know if they would have accepted but we'll be paying a lot more now barring some drastic drop off in production by Bridges.

Baseline is the keyword. They may have negotiated up to 80 but Miles wanted Mikal Bridges money at 90. Who the hell knows

I really don’t care about the whole “savings” part. I just care about keeping him.
