Depression nap incoming.

I'm not depressed yet

That might happen if they announce lavine is out for the next 6 weeks smh

Take comfort with the fact he never really showed anything that would say future star. So healthy or injured he was heading towards average NBA player.

I didn’t see a future star in him but his role + tools point to above average starter upside, imo. Or at least they did.

The loss is made worse by the fact our cupboard is otherwise pretty bare, prospect-wise.

That PDX pick conveying as a 1st rounder just got a lot more important.

Feel bad for the kid you don't want to start your 2md year in the nba like this.

Green should start and honestly he earned that starting spot. I'm not of the belief that we have to have a sense of urgency to add another big I think the improvement can be internal as Bradley in spot minutes and giving Derrick Jones Jr a run could improve us. But I think green can flourish in his new starting role.

The rebounding issue is not about size as we get killed with giving up offensive boards only because we are trying to dart out in transition to get quick scores instead of focusing on securing the boards. Green can help fix that and also give us the energy we need with the starting line up to start games more energetic to stop the slow starts. So this could be addition by subtraction although I feel horrible for patrick williams

To be honest Green deserved to be in the starting lineup even though he also doesn’t have size. Your right Derrick Jones will probably enter the rotation and they don’t necessarily need to make a move right now.

Tough blow for Bulls fans. Hoping for a speedy recovery for the young guy and praying he comes back strong. Bulls were already thin up front. One thing I noticed against the Knicks is that you just didn’t have that guy with bull to handle Randle. Poor Lonzo had a load on his hands.

Theis's contract does match up with DDJ's....

But I'm sure the Bulls would have to add more and I don't think Theis can be traded until December (?).

Theis just signed for Houston and we are 5 games in why would they trade him already ? Lol. Maybe later on before the deadline but not now.

This doesnt change much of anything. Pat wasn't helping the team at all, I was hoping he got benched since he seemed to be hurting more then he was helping.

I'm not too concerned about this hurting his development since at best he is James Johnson, at worst he is a below average roleplayer. He was never going to be a difference maker and was just a bad draft pick....anyone saying well he is only 20 is just in denial. Tyrus Thomas showed more flashes then Pat has and we all see how far he went.

Sucks he got hurt, and hope he heals up quick. Not going to make a difference in where the Bulls end up this year.

Unreal. Pat needed to play this year, for his own growth and for management to get an idea whether they think he'll reach the potential the see in him. :banghead:

PJ Washington seems to be buried in Charlotte, but I suspect they'd want a haul to trade him. I like the Clarke idea if he can be had without giving up much in the way of future assets.
Can I borrow a feeling?

I would cut Matt Thomas today for one of Ersan Ilyasova or Mike Scott. Both are free agents.

Ugh, just saw the news. This sucks.

Screw it, just commit 100% to small ball. Green will likely start as that high energy, low usage guy in the starting lineup. Bradley needs to be the backup 5. Alize can play if either Vooch or Bradley needs to sit. Then we need to finally get DJJ out there.

Ball / Zach / DDR / Green / Vooch
Caruso / Ayo / TBJ / DJJ / Bradley

Yup, small ball without the shooting.

Isn't Coby supposed to be coming back soon? He'd solve so many of the bench scoring and shooting problems we have.

Oh no. Horrible news for Pat, and bad news for the Bulls, given how thin they are at PF in the first place.

Do we get an extra roster spot in this circumstance? I guess we can just waive Matt Thomas to create a space. Besides Thomas, the only not-fully-guaranteed contract on the roster is Alize.

I never understood why Vonleh was not picked up by an NBA team. Any chance of getting him back from China? Another option is Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who is in Turkey but is free to return to the NBA. And then there's Stanley Johnson, as others have mentioned. Patrick Patterson, Mike Scott and Ersan Ilyasova are available if we want to go the aged-but-hopefully-not-washed-up route.

I think it works for both teams. With Precious, Birch, Barnes, pascal and OG, Boucher is an asset for us.

Plus we could use a young guard who can sometimes shoot well to that core.

First I blame Otto Porter jr., he left the front court injury curse in the locker room

My view is the complete opposite. In the long term he's out for the year, he doesn't become any worse of a player, with his left wrist he can still work on conditioning and learn more basketball. He comes back next year like an experienced FRP and depending on how things go without him he could come back as a a piece they realizie that they really missed this year.

It is devastating in the short run. They needed a backup for him and they'll still need that backup and a starter besides. NO Javonte Green is not going to defy all basketball norms and be a 6-4 PF, he'll fight and hustle and bring energy but he'll get steamrolled by the below average PFs in the league. Now may be the time to see what Tyler Cook can or can't do.

They need to see who fits into the trade exemption they have, and take on any higher priced, longer term guy they can get. They've opened the window of being a contender and they can't just tough it out. They have to make a serious move. When Patrick returns whoever they get now, if he's signed for more than this year, is part of the PF mix with PW who also fills a backup role behind DeRozan at SF. That's why it may be worth more to get someone better who is signed for longer when DJJ and Brown expire, they don't bring back Johnson or Simonovic or Cook.

Return to Chicago Bulls
