There’s probably a chance we bring Stanley Johnson back…

We played four bad teams and got smacked by the first real one. Can we make sure this roster is good first?
+1. The Bulls won't make any "go for it" moves until the deadline. What if Zach gets a knee injury next week?
Maybe you swap out Thomas for Stanley Johnson but that's probably about it.

What about Paul Reed on the Sixers? He's not getting much playing time and maybe he can be had for a minor deal?

I'm sorry for Patrick Williams personally.
For the Bulls however fate meant well.
We were just about to sacrifice present success in order to develop a bust, just for the reason he was drafted #4.
No fire inside still means not worth to wear a Bulls jersey, just from my old fashioned pov.

I feel terrible for Pat, particularly as someone who thought he should stay in the starting lineup, but...glass half full, if you had to pick one of our starters to be out for the season, he's the one you'd pick.

Also, it's hard to see a trade happening right now because the Bulls are still waiting for the tampering investigation to be finished. I believe that the DJJ trade was largely about getting another FRP, and a second round pick, in preparation for negotiations about resolving the tampering situation. The Bulls probably are arguing that the penalty should be limited to a 2d round pick, but amazingly, before the DJJ trade, they had no 2d round picks until 2026. You can't offer a resolution based on forfeiting a 2d round pick if you don't have one to give up that would incur some pain. Any trade for a PWill replacement likely will have to wait until we see what draft assets we have after the tampering investigation is over.

I just love searching through all these pages just to find the recent news and updates...Not
Back to topic. This sucks for PWill and the bulls man. Whenever we get a glimmer of hope something always seems to happen to us...Been like that since the Rose days

Got smacked? We played like **** and lost by one point against a team playing the October Super Bowl.

Anyway definitely sucks Pat is hurt, but Javonte starting in his place will mean our starting lineup wins the first quarter over most teams now.

Re: Pat Williams Out for the season per Woj p18
Assuming we don't make any roster changes in the near future, I wonder if you Donovan might just start Caruso, with Ball joining DeRozan in the frontcourt, instead of sticking undersized Javonte, or DJJ who has barely played, into the starting lineup? It would give us the most talented starting five we can have at the moment, but it would also make an already thin bench thinner.
Vucevic / Alize or Bradley
DeRozan / Javonte / DJJ
Ball / Javonte
Zach / TBJ / Thomas
Caruso / Ayo
Then when Coby comes back he makes the bench stronger? Or is Caruso better off the bench? Thoughts?

Not going to panic right now. As some of the posters have said, this hurts because PWill loses one year to develop.
Now Donovan will look to replace the 25mpg that Pat was playing at with what we have on our bench. Maybe green, Jones, Johnson and Bradley can all pick up more minutes. Splitting the 25 min between those guys isn't the worst thing in thing in the world.

Re: Pat Williams Out for the season per Woj p18
This is really heartbreaking for Pat as a person, but for the team I think they'll be able to take the hit. Last night they played their first legitimate team & came within striking distance at the buzzer after playing a poor game overall. I liked what I saw.
I do agree with other posters that we shouldn't expect a trade anytime soon. I think waiving Matt Thomas for a flier on a FA big is something we can do. Also, I wouldn't rule out the Bulls applying for a DPE & shelving Pat for the year but that's something Billy + AKME are going to have make a tough decision on if they think Pat may be ready for the playoffs.
I'm excited for DJJ to get some minutes. I don't know why he's been out of the rotation thus far. He's got a 7 foot wingspan, incredible bounce & can be a solid contributor. It's not like he's been wasting away as a young prospect on bottom feeders either. He's played minutes on decent MIA & POR teams. Bradley looked playable last night too. Green is not an acceptable solution at PF, and Alize is not a serious NBA talent. Billy needs to adjust.
It's gonna suck to not have a guy like Pat that you can throw on a team's best wing. Even if he's underperformed, that's energy he can give that others don't have to. The team must use this an opportunity to rally together. Zach, Vuc, Demar - it's on you.

OMG. I missed the part about how serious this injury is, and how likely it is that PWill may never fully recover. I went to read about perilunate dislocations and it was so devastating that I could not bring myself to link to them. This is horrible.

Pat Williams bought himself another year on Bulls roster. And not because of his play. Yes, injury doesnt change damn thing about my opinon of his play this year which was atrocious at it's best. Wish him speedy recovery.

I am learning a lot about the posters here as I read the reactions to PWill's devastating injury. He may well never play basketball again. He may be disabled for life. Yes, it's that serious. Get your heads and hearts right, friends.

I don't think Patrick Williams is going to have a very long NBA career, and it pains me to say this. His entire disposition is a major red flag. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you lack a competitive spirit out there on the court, I don't see many scenarios where you're going to get very far in this league, and I think that's where I'm at right now with Williams.
I feel bad for the kid, but I don't think this affects the Bulls ceiling this season at all, sadly.

IF Pat was cleared to return for the playoffs, I’m not sure it would be a good idea to even play him. His timing, conditioning etc would be even worse than what it was up to the wrist injury.
Other players taking his minutes over the course of the regular season would have developed a better chemistry with the rest of the team by then.

@BobbyMarks42: For Chicago to be granted a Disabled Player Exception ($3.7M), the league would need to deem Williams out until mid-June.
Chicago is $3M below the luxury tax and would need to waive a player in order to open up a roster spot. https://t.co/FzFLNyY8cx
Yeah, we're not getting a DPE
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.
