Re: Is RJ Barrett a bust?
Zion is literally Big Pun right now and even when he was healthy he played entirely no defense, he was fragile goods because of his injury history and a player who couldn't be as physical as he wanted because anyone who comes back from injuries will always be hesitant.
We got lucky with RJ, dude has been healthy and improving.
He doesn't have the best shot creativity but he can shoot very well now if given looks, he's a willing driver and easily our best perimeter/switch defender. Not afraid to guard PG's or forwards
New Orleans may not even commit to Zion and they have to do another rebuild process.
Where as we're an upcoming team in the NBA, free agents are going to see the culture in NY and want to come here over Brooklyn easily. Nash and Harden are toxic begging the NBA for foul calls and who's betting on KD to play 70 games in a season? He can't carry a team alone.
We need to let go of the RJ doubt. He's been a professional since he got here and it's clear he's supported by his teammates.
Imagine how much the media would destroy Zion right now if he was a Knick. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and those reasons may be on our side for once which is just rare. We always get shafted in a draft, but we won with RJ.
I'm not going to lie, I wanted Zion because I thought he was a generational talent. His career may not even last 10 years. I was right about Towns, but wrong about guys like Zion because injuries/health is as important as skill/talent. Give me a two way like RJ who can play 70+ games a season and progress over a guy who will play 25-40 games and struggle with health.

The hype is really starting for RJ. If he keeps it up and the Knicks keep winning I think he’ll be a lock for an all-defense team.

We should all just appreciate that fact and carry on focusing building with him and Julius. It’s not rocket science. That’s what good teams do, believe or not.
Hears to hoping the kid continues his strides his the postseason and hopefully takes it up another notch, on some Goku dragonball z type ish.

Jimmy Butler 2.0. people need to stop doubting the pedigree. some guys just take longer to develop.

I dunno man Zion was over 300 lbs and hasn't been healthy enough to even play basketball
Zion doesn't want to be in NO. He misses RJ. Zion's career won't last 10 seasons, but he'll help bring the knicks a chip or two.

I wouldn't call him a bust. Hes def a rotation player
But at a top 3 pick. I dont see the star potential off these last 4 games
How about now?
