Re: GT: Utah @ Chicago
The doom and gloom is warranted. It’s been a tough couple days with Zach’s thumb, Knicks loss, and Pat’s news.
The good thing is we have two other all star type players who can be relied on compared to years past.

At this point I'm just hoping for no more injuries. Let this at least be another game for the team to continue to gel together.
Rudy GAY is out, not Rudy Gobert.
Yeah, I think I saw Rudy and OUT and filled in what I wanted inbetween.
So Gobert is probably gonna feast, but I think I still favor the Bulls by a point here.

Remember that the Clippers went smaller after going down 0-2 and won 4 straight to eliminate the Jazz.
Vuc's three point shooting threat comes up again as it will force Gobert to defend higher up the half court, something that the Clippers took advantage of in the playoffs last year.
This is a game where Vuc should do his best RoLo impression and just box out Gobert and let everyone else get rebounds.

Vuc is a good matchup for Gobert, if such a thing exists. Gobert is so elite though. Definitely have a chance against them but they are just such a smart balanced team. Their bench is tough to slow down too, I mean they have 2 players who were in the running for the 6th man award. Good test for the Bulls for sure. Have some mettle boys.

The Clippers version of "small" included multiple 6'7 guys out there.
Our small is different than their small.

This has been my point since preseason. We are so caught up in getting bigger to potentially match up with teams that we don't recognize we have a unique opportunity to create our own small ball death lineup and make teams adjust to us. Most competing teams have put together a resemblance of a small ball death line up based on what Golden state was doing.
Donovan wants a quicker offense you start adding slow footed 7ft players that compromise that. I'm not saying size doesn't matter just saying I think we can fix it internally. When green was starting in the preseason we held our own in rebounding and we played some big teams. Rebounding is about effort and green gives that effort. We may give up a bit on the offensive glass but we can make up for it with quick transition offense and creating turnovers

Vuce and DeRozan need to figure it out. Their TS% this year are 49% and 51%, respectively, which is Boozerish. That doesn't win in the modern NBA unless your defense is REALLY good and/or you are playing garbage teams.

I feel like I'm ready for Demar to take the hit. He's basically our bail-out guy, shooting most of his baskets when the rest of the offense/line-up is completely limp.
But Vuc has been missing a ton of shots that were automatic last year. He's getting a lot of coverage. The whole engine offensively has looked clunky, which was expected since defensive execution was the first focus. But it's got a long way to go. Really think losing Pat sucks the life out of its potential.

Imagine if Vuc was actually putting up Orlando numbers, team would be 5-0. We wouldn't even be too concerned about tonight's game.

you talking nonsense. utah is a good team but they failed to beat the clippers without kawhi. please dont talk about them like there the nets or lakers. mitchell is my dude. i like they guy. very talented and special. but zach is right there with him. they play kinda the same but do it differently. if were talking about rudy g. then we've seen the weakness to him. he cant guard shooters. why not expose that. maybe billy donavan doesnt have them prepared like he should if he doesnt attack that flaw. mike conley is another player i like. very talented. but he's not the same version of himself from 5 years ago. you might catch him on a night were he's off or passive. brondonic or whatever his name is very good to. but i think this bulls team can frustrate them. our defense has improved. jovonte green is going to get more playing time with pat out. (get well soon) our main 3 players are all playing. tony bradley should have a role perminantly now. maybe even a derrick jones jr sighting isnt out the picture. and i kinda dont know why mat thomas hasnt played yet. his shooting would help alot. look at the lakers using austin reeves. like if that isnt a smart way of using your talent i dont know what is. but bulls dont need to upset the jazz. just beat them cause there that good

I mean I get some doom & gloom and it sux that PWill is out but he was or is the 5th option right now.
You have 3 All Stars and Lonzo as your core 4 figuring it out. It will take a few games and the gsuntlet is the best training ground for that. I am hopeful we go .500 or better during this stretch.

This will probably be one of the toughest, if not the actual toughest game during this gauntlet stretch. Even with all the hype and optimism I’ve had before the injuries, this was one of the games that seemed like a guaranteed loss. Utah, is just on another level. That said, I would definitely take a win. Anything is possible, if the team shows up and shows out.

We'll absolutely win this game.
I really feel bad for Pat. I wish him a quick and moreso full recovery. I like him and want him to suceed.
But loosing him surely doesn't hurt our chances for wins in 21/22. That's a fact.

Re: GT: Utah @ Chicago
W/L isn't a big deal, this is a loss for almost any team in the East. If most of the East loses to Utah, relatively means little for Chicago.
I'm more interested if we continue to show more improvement on offense & rebounding, rotations, how the team plays together. Lavine absolutely hasn't gelled with this new team, he looks very hesitant on his moves. He hasn't been playing naturally & instinctively like last year. Donovan has also been clearly experimenting with the defense & rotations for that last spot.
One thing we can't do is start throwing early help like we did vs Randle. Utah is the best team in the league at punishing early help defense by getting the ball out to the weakside, and Joe Ingles will kill you. He's only 50% on 3s on high volume shooting this year.

Re: GT: Utah @ Chicago
IMO the keys to the game for the Bulls are:
1) Make our 3's
2) Limit our turn-overs
3) Play good defense on Mitchell and Clarkson

Yeah, but our 6'7 guys can't shoot. The Clippers beating the Jazz was never really about size. It was a combination of a) horrible POA defense by the Jazz and b) insane shooting nights from the Clippers. Gobert wasn't even the issue, there's only so much you can do when your guards put you in a 1v2 situation every single time.
