Barnes scoring ability is better than expected. Combined with his defense make him Rookie of the year material.

I agree 100%, this is Scotties team, he is already our best player.
You're both out to lunch.
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

Re: PG: Franchise Player Scottie Barnes
That had a lot more to do with Barnes simply being less aggressive with his offence after getting poked in the eye and having a finger wrapped up.blastttOFF wrote:pingpongrac wrote:This talk of Scottie being ignored by his teammates and frozen out of the offence is almost entirely incorrect. Barnes is averaging 14.0 FGA (3rd) in 34.9 MPG (3rd) with a 21.3 USG% (3rd) and 63.7 touches/game (2nd). He is playing significant minutes as a rookie -- mostly with our current best players also on the floor with him -- and he is near the top of our team in almost every statistic. He is being given the ultimate freedom by the coaching staff and his teammates are confident in giving him the ball in basically every scenario.
I don't know what games you guys are watching sometimes lol.
After scoring 19 points in the first half against the magic, Scottie was relegated into taking 2 shots in the second half.
Achiuwa: 4 FGA / 5 FGA (all in Q3)
Banton: 4 FGA / 2 FGA
Barnes: 11 FGA / 3 FGA
Birch: 3 FGA / 0 FGA
Boucher: 3 FGA / 2 FGA
FVV: 6 FGA / 10 FGA (6-7 in Q4)
GTJ: 7 FGA / 6 FGA
OG: 8 FGA / 11 FGA
Svi: 1 FGA / 0 FGA
Both from the eye test and looking at the stats, it wasn't significant enough of a "freeze out" for people to lose their minds over. Barnes looked visibly off in the 2nd half while OG and FVV especially took over after combining for 3-14 shooting in the 1st half (11-21 in the 2nd half, combining for 26 of 33 points in Q4 while assisting on 2 of the other FGM). We likely lose if we kept going to Barnes all night and OG/FVV don't get going late too.

OG will never get traded. He will be a core player for a long time.

The number of people who want to trade OG or Siakam is so strange. Why would you want less good players? You're not going to get value for Siakam and OG is on one of the best contracts in the league.
And I don't know how anyone who has watched this offense in the half court doesn't think Siakam could help it out.

OG is literally one of the small handful of people who can not only guard every position, but consistently delivers the best defence that players like Lebron, KD and other elite wings see......I swear, **** like this shows me some people have never **** played basketball and don't understand **** about the game.
OG is a unicorn role player. Masai will not trade him.
He's **** 24, is locked in for 4 years in arguably the best value contract league wide, is essentially a 18-20 point lock, is a good 3 point shooter with volume...and we should trade him because...Barnes is similarly talented and versatile? Most Centers can't even back OG down for Pete's sake.
Most teams don't have a single elite defender and most that do are limited offensively or in size. We have 2. Pascal could be considered 3. This is the plan folks.
Y'all need to drop your preconceived little notions of positions. It's really not that hard to wrap your head around if you've played basketball. Positionss are dead.
It's all about roles, schemes, specialists and matchups. That's why versatility is and will continue to be the most coveted asset in players.
Agreed people are very foolish.
The upgrade from OG to a "star" is pretty small when you consider both sides of the ball.
Why would u want to get rid of OG, the value of OG and Scottie being able to switch and lock down just about anyone is invaluable. You don't trade that...
You try to package everyone else for an offensive stud but by no means do OG or Scottie go anywhere
To me, OG is already a star.
Adding 7 points to his PPG to give him 25 is what others would consider a star. I could care less scoring is the cheapest and most abundant skill in the league.
OG literally is above average to elite at every single **** one of the most desirable traits/skills.
Effort/Motor
Versatility
Work Ethic
Basketball IQ
Team first mentality
Defence (I've considered him the best personally for the last 1-2 years)
3 point shooting
Size/Speed/Athleticism/Strength
He's literally everything great about a star player with literally NONE of the downside. Untouchable IMO.
Why trade for a star offensive stud when I already have the best option to stop the oppositions offensive stud.
I'm **** tired of this archaic #1/2/3 option bull. Why can't we have 5 starters who can each drop 16-22 like clockwork so we don't have to do this predictable bull.
For OG now, it’s all about consistency now.
He has all the traits of a very good player. He hasn’t even reached his prime as a player yet. But he’s been getting better every year contrary to what every naysayer has been saying about him the last few years.
I expect even bigger things next year after what I’m seeing this year. Better handles, better recognition of teammates, better consistent jumper.
The future is bright for OG
raf1995 wrote:I just don’t think he has that kind of potential. I think we will regret not trading him for a haul in a few years when he’s a mid-tier starter with nice playmaking and defense and a shaky jumper.

So far he's been hit in the head, literally pushed to the ground by sabonis in front of a ref last night no call, he gets clobbered on drives with no calls, if he got the Demar treatment he would be averaging 8 fts a game at least
This is the first time I’m seeing OG legit complain about no calls every game.

I'm looking at you Boucher and Precious.
Fred was pissed at Precious for that play when he tried to go coast to coast and just put up an ugly shot trying to go one against three. Fred was visibly frustrated then was talking to Precious after the play.
Fred was saying that's my job to go coast to coast and force up shots in traffic.
You wrong for that, but you also not wrong

If Scottie is future then OG has to go.
They play the same position, and unless Scottie gets to Kawhi level offensively, we are gonna need a more dynamic scorer than OG to compete for a Championship
By your logic I think half of our team has to go

Looks like our strategy is to use our length to dissuade people from driving into the paint and using our length to aggressively close-out. I like it, especially with these new rules for offensive players. I expect a lot of fans of other teams to complain about us this year

If there's room for prime LeBron, Wade and Bosh to play together, then there's certainly enough room for Pascal and Scottie to play together. Stop being silly.BryceMaxJames wrote:Klaw22 wrote:There's no room for Siakam once he returns. Scottie already above him. Masai should watch out for some trades and better get some few assets back. The rationale is about trading a good PF or good SF for a better fit at C or SG.
Which is hard to do .. because raps will be giving up more for fit at C

Re: PG: Franchise Player Scottie Barnes
This board literally makes no sense. Everyone on here has agreed that Pascal is not a number 1 option (a term I hate and I'm tired of seeing people talk about) but now that we have a rookie who looks like he could potentionally be that guy and be better that Pascal in time, y'all wanna trade Pascal.
Haven't we all agreed that Pascal has proven he's a very good number 2-3 option on a championship calibre team? That means if Scottie becomes the number 1 option Pascal is in the perfect position. Why are y'all all of sudden trying to trade him lol. I swear people on here always do this. Right when someone unexpected starts playing really well they wanna trade everyone that plays their position or are similar lol. It's makes no sense.
To be a good team you need MULTIPLE good players. Pascal and OG are not being traded unless it's for someone of equal to greater talent. They aren't going anywhere for now. Just enjoy the team and chill out.

Siakam has to go because he won’t be able to deal with the fact that Barnes is our best player
