Conspiracy theories help those who have trouble understanding things make sense of the world when there is usually a more logical explanation.

The reason Banton was not as highly rated and not scouted as much was because his game was really raw. It was evident in his scouting highlights and even in his early summer league showing.

The reason he is doing so well now is because A) he is a quick study and as picked up the schemes very quickly combined with B) the Raptors have one of the best if not the best development programs in the league and C) the Raps have one of the best if not the best scouting systems in the league and consistently find underrated talent. No conspiracy necessary.

Love Banton, just worry he might get too overhyped and then get sh*t on by fans when he eventually slumps.

We all want him to be very successful, but he has yet to show that he can run the half-court offense. Whenever FVV is off, the offense just stalls with him. One thing for certain, he has gained strength in 3 weeks: He could barely stand on his feet after any contact (not anymore).

Raptors twitter seems to be a groupthink phenom because fan reactions don't seem aligned with what happens on the court. For some reason....flynn qas embraced by raptor twitter. There was so much talk on this board about him inevitably replacing fred. "Our future pg".....and there was ZER0 reason to even consider it.

On the other hand....there doesn't seem to be much hype about Banton. If Flynn ever had 4 or 5 consecutive games like banton just did....ppl would be going bananas.

It's like narratives and favorites get established and a player can either do no wrong (flynn) or do no right (fred). And then it's just re-enforced inside an echo chamber until there is a delusional general consensus that doesn't match reality.

It seems like we drafted two kids this year with unshakeable confidence that have that mindset where they don’t think too much and just play, let it fly and see what happens. Given his game is a lot of instincts, size and natural athleticism combined with high end motor, a lot of these baskets and plays he makes are just a combination of that motor and those natural abilities combined, so if his motor doesn’t die out he should be able to continue to contribute like he has been. Both Scottie and him have that going on. It’s not hitting jump shots that is the reason for their success.

I could see Delano being our fan favourite 6th man for a long time. Kind of like a rich man’s Shaun Livingston that does a little bit of everything. His shooting form looks good

I mean… Matt has called him a lottery pick for the past few games.

So I'm not going crazy thinking that his hair is thinning at the front? He's only 23, so it's gotta be hard to accept.

He's right over the guy in the yellow jersey, who is right above Jalen Green. His face is covered by the guy in the black jersey. Scottie is wearing a white jersey. Pretty sure that's him.

damn so banton been the better rookie... sucks. barnes overrated... give banton ROY.

side note but our 3 point shooting been atrocious man... hopefully og, fvv and trent head upwards towards their career norms but yeah offense been ugly... svi shooting 42% on only 2 attempts... also norm shooting 54% from 3 right now... lol... could really use him... we probably dont get scottie if we keep him though...

Registering for the draft late. Excelling at the combine when he needed to. etc. It seems a bit planned.

Anyways enjoy it. Eventually he will need to go to the G-League and get some reps when the roster is full again. HE can't continue at this pace for an entire season. We did get lucky on this draft. If Barnes showed he could shoot at least a little bit more he would be a top 2 pick and classified as perennial superstar. Instead of being poor man's Ben Simmons he has the potential to be better.

So why didn't Powell get drafted higher ? Why didn't teams rush to sign undrafted FVV ? Why didn't Pascal get drafted in the lottery? What more does Ujiri and his team have to do, to prove they're simply on another level than these other GM's and scouts ? Or are you on the Rogers narrative that Ujiri is nothing special ?

As for Banton, why does he need to go in the G league ? Why can't he maintain this pace ? How did you come up with this conclusion? Because he was the 45th pick ? If he was a top 10 pick (so far he should have been) would you say the same thing?

EVERY PLAYER that puts their name in the draft is trying to get that guaranteed 3 year 1st round pick contract. No agent would advise their client to go against that. None.

Each situation is different, I am only talking about Dalano. I didn't mention Ujiri once, in fact I am saying Webster had his eyes on him the entire time which give him credit. I am not sure what the narrative is you're trying to push but it's not what I was saying at all.

Most rookies that aren't lottery spend some time in the G-League. In terms of pace, I haven't seen a rookie that wasn't a physical freak, not hit the rookie wall. He would be exceptional if he didn't. Here is some proof of the rookie wall.

https://www.libertyballers.com/2019/1/13/18175969/finding-the-nba-rookie-wall
https://www.foxsports.com/north/story/nba-rookie-wall-is-real-but-not-easily-defined-020713

It has nothing to do with where he was picked, I never said it was. I am saying almost ALL rookies go through a wall and that can make them open to injury. A good organization will plan for it and try to prevent it. Raptors are a good organization. We fans think short-sighted in increments of one or two games. Raptors should not.

Not every player does get that first round contract. Dalano was never, every going to be a 1st round pick. The bottom 5 were Hyland, Thomas, Springer, Sharpe and Aldama. Maybe Aldama but I heard Memphis might have 1 or 2 good young PGs so unlikely. However Dalano should be not be drafted near the end of the second round with his ability.

You're giving NBA FOs too much credit. Most of them aren't good at their jobs. The Raptors are the exception, not the rule.

Yeah it’s a definite grow out cover up job. He probably doesn’t realise we can tell the sides are a darker shade of orange than the top.

I have loved a good NBA hair mystery ever since Boozer painted his scalp black for national television.

I keep wanting to say Bantom, after Sixers forward Mike Bantom. With an M at the end.

Funny, I remembered Bantom as a teammate of Dr. J on the Sixers 83 champs. But the internet tells me he only played one year in Philly, 82, after a long career with the Pacers and others. And went to play in Italy in 83, missing the championship.
