Game 8: Milwaukee Bucks Basketball Team at Detroit Pistons Basketball Team - 11/2/21 - 6:00 - BSWI

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Nov 1, 2021 7:23 pm

Nothing new on the injury front. With a light week (Tuesday, Friday, Sunday) my hunch is that Jrue and Brook sit out again and aim for Friday against the Knicks. Khris should be back (it was confirmed his illness was non Covid).

Looking forward to seeing Cunningham, as of now he's expected to play.

GO BUCKS
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

At some point the "load management" thing may cost them in the dog days of spring.

I'm still not concerned even after a crummy weekend. Dropping this one to Detroit would be a bad harbinger, however.

The Suns, who had an equally short offseason, have played less games and don't have the injury issues, are 2-3. Ayton, Booker, Crowder, Paul and Bridges have played in all of their games.

Yeah, it's clearly beyond load management at this point. At this point we just have to hope we can tread water until we can get the majority of our important pieces healthy, hopefully with plenty of season left. 6 out of the next 7 games on the road means we really need this one. Try to go at least 3-4.

Why? As long as they are in the top 4 at the end of the year and healthy they have a shot.

Just be 500 until allstar break, then hopefully, all of the injuries have been resolved and the team gels. Then last 30 games wreck the league. 51-31 or so.

Why what? Why do we need to try to tread water? You just said we need should try to be top 4 at the end of the year. Going 3-4 over the stretch means being 6-8 overall. 4th place last year was about a 47 win pace. That would mean finishing the rest of the season 47-21, a 50 win pace. Obviously very doable, but the point is the longer the treading goes on the harder it gets to make up the games.

That's the thing. At some point a loss at home to the Wolves and other middling teams adds up. Hopefully the guys can shake off injuries and rust in the next couple of weeks. Specifically Jrue and Brook.

Just a guess, but maybe you have to test negative multiple days in a row before you're cleared.

Injuries happen and with a super short offseason, I’m not mad if they’re being more cautious with injuries even though Brook and Jrue seem to have real problems.

This is the year that you want a top 2 seed in the east though. The bucks won last year as a 3rd seed but you can’t ignore the circumstances that went in the bucks favor and I’m not talking just injuries. The bucks are a real contender but no juggernaut, they should be trying all they can to have home court for most of the playoffs.

You’re going to be facing teams with real championship chances earlier than usual in the east this year, playing at home more than the other team is a real advantage still especially for this team.

With a short off season and with Jrue and Middleton playing in the Olympics, I agree there is some loading management going on here and the Bucks are being super cautious with even minor injuries. That combined with the fact that the Bucks don't put a ton of value on the regular season, they showed us that last season. I'm sure Jrue and Brook aren't fully 100%, but I am also pretty sure they could play tomorrow and be effective if we were playing a playoff game and not the Pistons on November 2nd.

I think the Bucks were pretty confident they would still win at home against at least the Spurs and Wolves, especially after going 2-1 on the road. So it has kind of bitten them in the ass these last few games.

So watch them continue that strategy and lose to the freakin Pistons.

I’m not in panic mode but we’re not good enough to treat the regular season as an extended warmup for the playoffs. We’re not exactly the 2001-2002 Lakers.

We have a tough stretch of road games coming up. If we don’t stack some wins here things could get ugly pretty quickly.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
