Man...Derozan was sort of what we wanted Wade to be when he got here that one year.....and Wade was only 2 years older than Derozan and was almost washed up.

I honestly think we got a good version of Wade.

The rest of the team proved to be useless. You got Demar here; he’s a mentor for multiple young guys with ceilings to reach (Zach, Lonzo, Pat/sadly out, Troy/sadly underperforming, Ayo, Javonte). Just a lot of playable, athletic NBA prospects (or stars).

Wade came and had Jimmy… Jimmy credits him for reaching a higher level. Was pure fringe talent after that. RoLo and Taj were serviceable but not helping spacing at all for a 3P challenged 1-3.

Bobby and Niko had their awkward rivalry before the punch. Rondo was in a weird place, trying to find himself after the injuries and demotions. Dudes like Valentine, Payne and Bobby had irrational confidence and no NBA game. Rest of that YOUNG squad is out the league, and it hasn’t even been 5 years.

If RoLo was actually a baller like Vuc and not just a replaceable C, Rondo and Niko had good years, Jerian/Zipser/MCW actually had some NBA talent… oh and GarPax actually considered player fit…

(Rotflmao at Taj/RoLo joining Rondo/Wade/Jimmy at the peak of the Super Warriors 3P trend)

Not to mention Hoiberg….

Look I’m not saying we got a great version of Wade, but we got exactly what I expected out of a 25m bait contract 34yo Wade. The rest of the concept was broken, not him (nor Jimmy).

Wade had a lot more wear on his body between the body hits and deep playoff runs.

Well yeah, the good news about DeRozan's contract is it expires before his washed up years.

That is a great comparison, though it works even better given that Ball/Zach/Vuc all supplement DeRozan's lack of shooting, and we didn't have that around Wade. That and as you noted, Wade was washed up.

There is also the Hoiberg factor to mix into that. If the 3 Alpha's had a better coach, that team isn't as bad as the situation became. Far from a contender but not as bad as they are remembered now. Wade also depended on athleticism more than DDR did, so the fit of aging is a bit different. The biggest problem with that situation though was the Bulls were looking to tank and then shifted mid sentence to oh yeah lets go for it with Old Wade.

We got Demar at a fair price. Not overpaid at all. Same with Lonzo before someone makes that argument. As a matter of fact, I don't think anyone on this team is on a bad deal. Maybe Dobson.

I'm thinking the same people who before the season even started were trying to trade DeRozan on the first day he was eligible to be moved are the same bunch that are so eager to ship Coby White ASAP before he even has a chance to appear as the 6th man. His rookie year he came off the bench and people were saying he couldn't play next to Zach. His second year he starts at a new position and became an adequate starting PG next to Zach but people wanted him as the 6h man. How about seeing if he can be that 6th man before shipping out to fill that role for some other team?

As a longtime Demar fan I have to say that I'm really happy for you guys. Ignore the noise. He's a terrific player and an even better person.

DDD is underpaid at his current production. Should have been a 30+ mil max cat. AKME scores again!

If he continues being a stabilizer when our offense struggles and is as reliable going forward as he has been, then he will be one of the most underrated signings of the offseason.

Demar is just going to score more points per game than his yearly salary.

He literally may end up the best signing of the off-season. Right now he is.

Dear Mr. DeRozan:

I’m sorry. I listened to the wrong people. I was wrong.

MGB8

P.s. I still was an early booster from bringing you to the Bulls, so at least there’s that.
